Correct, I have a few air tools but not a spray gun or any of the other kit needed so I'll go with the rattle cans, temperatures here are not extreme; up into the 90s would be a very rare occurrence, but I appreciate it's best to get a good clear coat. Like I said, I'll try to get some answers...
Thanks, (Randy, right?) Wow that seems like a lotta paint! Tell me, how many coats would a quart provide? I figured 2x 400ml aerosol cans would probably cover what I need, especially seeing as I don't plan to do the tank; I have a dark tinted screen which makes up a large proportion of the front...
How much paint do I need?
Hi all, a couple of simple questions for the paint buffs out there - I want to repaint my fairings in the original colour. I haven't been able to find my paint code so I'm unsure which metallic black it is. It's a 2005 FZ6S and as far as I can tell diamond black was...
Definitely worth noting for next time, thanks. Products eventually used for the repair were as follows:
Permatex 59214 High temperature Thread sealant
M8 helicoil thread repair set
M8x10mm grub/set screw
Evo-stik Hard and Fast metal epoxy putty, steel reinforced
Pro Seal Red Hi-Temp RTV...
Both these things crossed my mind, I would have liked to have retapped without using a helicoil but really the threads were too far gone and wouldn't have made a good seal. It's holding up fine thus far so fingers crossed it won't leak again.
I was amazed that the fan worked because like you...
Problem solved, bike is roadworthy again!
The issue with the fan was fairly simple; the bike was involved in an accident before I had it which pushed the fan assembly into the radiator, preventing it from spinning. It's a wonder I never had any overheating issues before because the...
An update for you guys... The solution suggested seems to have worked in plugging the hole so thanks a lot for all your suggestions, that's the good news. A new problem has developed though as the radiator fan seems to have stopped working, although I'm not sure if it ever did as I've never left...
Just to keep you posted, these are the weapons of choice:
Evostik Evostik Hard And Fast 50g Car Maintenance Adhesives BOSTIK EVOSTICK ADHE | eBay
Permatex 59214 High temperature Thread sealant Thread sealer Thread lock | eBay
Sounds like it should work, just hope it will resist glycol...
Yup yup, this all makes sense, thanks for sticking with this guys it's good to have a few heads thinking on this instead of just mine. Regarding the debris, this was my thinking as well and the system has been flushed through about 4 times now as I've had to drain it every time I've readressed...
Oh, and this is the product I tried already.
Pro Seal Red Hi-Temp RTV Silicone Instant Gasket 85g Jointing Compound | eBay
Could probably be used in place of the putty suggested. I can get some M8 stainless grub screws which could work well as you suggested. I'll let you know if it works
Great thanks for your help, both of you. It's definitely a flowing passage that I've gone into as when the stud is removed (after cooling of course!) the coolant flows out. The putty may be a good solution to go between a plug and the stud, whereas something like the thread sealer would be good...
Hi Guys, been a member on here for years but don't know if I've ever posted! Some great tips and advice to be seen anyway so thanks :) I have an '05 FZ6 which I've been spending some time repairing recently, a few jobs such as replacing fork seals, some work on the brakes and generally cleaning...
