FWIW I found that the OE bridgestone BT020 I had cupped badly as it wore - on the cornering surface. I blamed it mainly on all the really small tread blocks flexing as they transmit force to the pavement (and wearing while flexed). I liked the continuous center rib though - no blocks there to...
After running Shad SH42 side cases I personally find 42L cases far too big and awkward for side cases - easy to bump things, clumsy, porky looking, etc. Can't really load them up because they get too heavy for the rack and mounting system in my opinion.
Depending what your needs are, at...
I personally on a high performance application would not use a threaded insert for a spark plug. Inserts can change the way the plug transfers heat considerably. Not good. I also just don't trust the things to stay in long term as most inserts on the market are flawed in design IMHO...
Just an extreme thought here, and unlikely unless you drove for miles with a dead cyl dumping unburned fuel into the exhaust - what are the chances that you might have a melted catalytic converter as a result of the misfire?
For all it takes to pull the pipe and shine a light through the...
One of the 2 fancy looking small allen head bolts/washers that hold plastic on beneath the OEM muffler departed. Another issue seems to be exhaust hardware in general, but after aligning, rechecking torque seems to settle that. No big/important parts... yet. :D
I doubt being dropped would have any effect. There is a lean angle cut off sensor. Motor shuts down instantly, and if I remember correctly you must cycle the key before it will start again... (Don't ask how I know this... but a snow was bank involved).
+1 to TownsendsFJR1300 comment about...
Relativly civil too, I might add. I appriciate that. There seems to be experienced persons raising valid points for consideration. What may seem on the surface to be a simple mechanical device becomes increasingly more complex the deeper you get. With respect to that, I've been thinking a...
I'm not suggesting or endorsing machining anything either, quite the opposite actualy. Just batting around the concepts and potential issues since the option was suggested. There is a counter weight for each journal - that says enough for me...
Myself, I am not a big fan of modifying what...
Here I go thinking again... :D
No attack intended, just some further thinking here. As near as I see the only thing that #2 and #4 have in common is that they are on the same crankshaft in the same motor. Totally seperate crankshaft drillings for the oil supply. Since the main bearings...
I was expecting worse, although in reality there is nearly as much damage as if the bearings were totally shreaded. What do you suspect is the root cause? Looking at the cam bearing surfaces might give a hint to an oil starvation issue, but I doubt you'll find much. Other things that cross my...
But we're all still guessing, so here's more stating what seems obvious to me to further speculation.
To get the described magnitude of knock from a rod, there is little chance of doing a reliable repair with less than a rod and crank service/repl. That means the head comes off to get the...
