You could also try the FZ8 bars if you are looking for a more upright riding position. they have a 1" rise where the FZ1 bars are completely flat.

For best results I would go buy automotive clear and use a charged aerosol can just pour the clear in the bottom of the can and you can spray the automotive clear on the tank and plastics.
