soldier almost dies

A few posts on that site comment on how high his head is... Not sure in that particular position he could get any lower and still have access to his weapon.

One thing is for sure - he's been spotted and it is time to move!

I think you misunderstood what you're looking at. The guy with the light machine gun crouching behind the wall isn't the sniper. His job is to hold his ground and he's doing it. He is most likely the "bait" for our own sniper or DM that's elsewhere looking for the source of the incoming rounds. That's also why the guy you see is not firing back. Things are not always what they seem to be in war.

I see all these shows on tv about weapons that can shoot around corners and human controlled weapons...

why is he even in that spot??

im sure it's due to the cost of such weapons.

Did you read my post above? He's bait. You don't put the cheese in the fridge if you want to catch a mouse, you put it out where the mouse can get it! It's not all fun and games in the sandbox and the bait almost died. It's not a cost issue, that's just how urban combat works. It's fugly.

It's fugly.

And that's why so many soldiers who do manage to stay alive end up with life-long issues...or some just decide not to live. Nothing we do can compare to watching friends get shot and blown up for an entire year.
