Not sure where this goes but it sounds like a product review.

30 year old male with clean driving record currently insured through Geico for car and house. In Northern Virgina 20 miles from Washington, D.C.

Geico minimum coverage with $1000 collision and comprehensive deductables is over $1200 for the FZ6

Progressive with minimum coverage and $500 collision and coprehensive under $250

I double checked they are both the rate for 12 months. Even called Geico to make sure they had my bike listed as just the FZ6.

My guess would be Geico has it listed as a sport bike and Progressive doesn't.

Anyway thought I would share.

Wow that's expensive, I pay $350 bucks for the whole year with full coverage $250 deductible comp and collision. I am in California, 35 clean record. Here is the link for their website, they insure nationally as well I think, check with them. They have really good costumer service.

The McGraw Group of Affiliated Companies

Check out Dairyland/Sentry insurance. I have 3 bikes insured, full coverage plus accessories (including a trailer) $250 deduct. on all and paid $581. last yr. The first time I called them I got the quote thought it was a mistake since it was soooo much less than the other 5+ quotes I had gotten, the cheapest of those was $1500/yr. with higher deductibles and no accessory coverages

Auto Insurance, Home Owners insurance and Renters Insurance Coverages

Good luck in your search

Geico's not as cheap as everyone claims!

EDIT: Moved thread to General Discussion!

Try State Farm .... Geico, Progressive suck!!!! I pay 484/yr for 100/300/100 100 comp 250 coll. 3 year clean driving record ... international student

I dont remeber all the little stuff. But this FZ6 is my first bike every. I have never even been on a dirt bike. Geico wanted 1000 a year and esurances wanted 1000 a year but progressive just wanted $360 a year :). I am 28 clean record a truck car and house on different ins company. So I have just my bike with progressive. I think thats pretty good.

I have country companies this is my first street bike and i pay about $250 a year thats about $21 dollars a month for 100/300/100 on my policie. They were also the cheapest on my other vehicles and home. Geico wanted $2000 a year just for the FZ6 for 50/100/50. Geico really blows.:ban:Geico!!!!!!
Hey Geico:Flip:

I have Farmers for eveything but my FZ6. Country Insurance took me and I got a great rate of course they thought I was going to switch everything. Farmers would not touch the FZ6 they wanted to put me with a sub and charge way to much.

For me, Progressive is way less than the competition on the bikes. $540/year for 100/300/100 on the FZ6, ZR7S and the Venture. This rate also includes my 17 year old son on all three bikes. I got tired of being raped by State Farm years ago for insurance. Even when I had my house, car and truck with them, I found substantially cheaper rates for better coverage once I started checking around. I had been insured by them for over 20 years but I dropped SF on everything about 12 years ago.

I'd say at least check out State Farm. My FZ6 is about $360/yr with full coverage and $250 deductible. My GSXR 600 was same price by the way. Progressive wanted over $1000/yr. It will depend a LOT on where you live as I know a guy in Wyoming who's paying only about $150/yr for his. Be prepared to spend some time looking since you can save BIG money by shopping around.

That's a really good rate for 3 bikes. Maybe I'll give them a call. Wasn't happy with my first experience with them. Have you any experience with filing a claim with them? SF has been pretty good to us working out claims over the years...

I switched from Geico to Progressive this year also. My rates with Geico for the first year on the bike were decent, but they increased a lot for year 2. I admit my driving record is not clean, I keep hitting stuff with the car, but that doesn't explain why Geico jumped to $300 more than Progressive.

I'm much more careful on the bike.

I thought I was going to have a massive coronary after getting a quote from Geico. Only reason why I even got the quote is because a Harley rider at work talked the company up. Afterwards, I let this guy know that Geico was outrageous and that I was sticking with AIG (21st Century). Oh well, how do you think the company can afford all those freaking TV commercials coming on every 5 minutes? I like the Caveman commericials the best. Wouldn't touch trying to get coverage through them though. I'm going to check McGraw for a quote.

GEICO is the only one claiming they're cheap! Their premiums are so outrageous I can't believe anyone would sign with them. Despite their heavy advertising for motorcycle insurance, it's like they really don't want to insure us.

For grins, I just tried an online quote with GEICO on my '07 FZ6. No tickets, no accidents, have taken MSF, and premium is... hold on, here it comes.... $2182/year. They say I can start a policy for only $276, which is more than my annual premium with Progressive.

That's the same conclusion I reached when I saw they wanted 3x what I pay now for the same coverage.

I have Progressive, and started at over $600 a year last year when I bought my motorcycle. This is my first bike. It was going to drop by quite a bit actually but I informed them of my MSF course, and the fact that I got married and instantly dropped to $480 a year I want to say?? Not sure off the top of my head. Next year I want to shop around since I will have another year of experience and will have had my license for a full year.

Geico was about 30% cheaper than Progressive for my car.. Thats a huge savings! On the other hand, Progressive was cheaper than Geico for my bike.. Go figure

I called Geico before I got my FZ6 and they quoted only a bit more than the Ninja 250R I had with them. Once I got to the dealer, and was finishing up the paperwork, they nearly tripled the cost. Seems the VIN gave them a different rate than the model name. And, somehow, they had no record of me calling in the first place. I was quite PO'd.

The dealer suggested I call Progressive and they were the same price as I was first quoted by Geico. Goodbye gecko, hello goofy brunette!
