Is your bike your only transportation?

Mine will be starting tomorrow. I sold my car to save money and pay bills and I will only have the bike. Risky but I've done it before.

It's not so good when it rains or when I need to go shopping or pick up something big but it'll have to do. Hopefully my financial situation will improve before winter and I'll get a car again. I hate to see my car go but at least I have a motorcycle. I almost decided to just commute on a bicycle but am glad I came to my senses. I hate getting to work all sweaty anyway.

Who else only has a motorcycle and that's it?

Nah...still have the car, but I prefer the bike any day of the week.

I have 2 kids and 2 step kids so it wouldn't work for me. I need at least 6 seats to take them to dinner! I just bought a new mini van to deal with the situation.

Welcome to the club, the club with no other vehicle that is. Nice thing about having the bike as your only transport; keeps your skill level up. No long layoff for you to get or feel rusty. Riding everyday keeps you in A + level. One bad thing, you will be going to the store on a daily basis, you can only fit so much in a backpack. If you had to pick a place to ride every day, no better place than where you're at, San Diego!

I have a Car, only cause i have kids!, but i do about 60km's a week in the Car, and about 350km's a week on the Bike. Always take the bike if it's just me, or just me and my eldest boy (9).

Cheaper, easier for parking, and it keeps the skills up, which makes that Sunday recreational on those great tight & twisty roads we have in the hills near where i live, even more enjoyable, when you can squeeze one in.

Only drawback's are limited carrrying capacity, and having to basically take two outfits everywhere you go - your bike gear, your work clothes, etc....oh, and dumbasses in cages that drive crazy!

Im single no kids and a teacher off for the summer...bought the bike a few weeks before work ended in June but i dont ride in the wet. Kind of restraining lol but im getting used to it. I still need a cage for the winter...its just expensive on teachers pay.

I have a 07 crew cab silverado that drinks the hell out of gas. I spend right at $200 a month easily with it. Thats how I can afford the bike by not driving the truck unless it is an absolute need to. I am trying to sell it atm to do the same as you. Save money to pay debt and bills off. I have the same idea as you just havent sold the truck yet.

I am stuck to using the underground and buses because my bike is down with a puncture. I am having it fixed though, over the weekend. But I also have a cage which is mostly used by my bike fearing missus

I would love to ride year round, but here in Newfoundland our riding season is usually May - November. I guess I could put studded tires on my bike and drive her all year round

nope i live in ny riding season here is usually may to october both of those months are rather chilly. but I am a traveling photographer so I can't survive without a car, I have a 2008 Scion XB its in the sig gas wasn't an issue for me it was the miles, I leased my xb and it is 15,000 a year right now i am at 24,300 and my first year isnt up till august 5th. So i bout the bike mainly to help keep the miles off

i cant either with with the brutal new england winters and i havent been too comfortable with highway riding yet. To me both the car and bike are needed. btw, how do you plan getting groceries and running those type of errands?! lol. i mean unless you have one of those saddle bags.

even with saddle bags hope your only doing a couple days worth... and you better head right home with the cold stuff

as of now my bike is my only form of transport. I'm letting my truck go. and with the kids, J need the yukon(plus it's hers anyhow)as well as how expensive fuel prices are. I don't like running the jeep outside of town, and my jeep is not even close to being "legal" let alone road worthy. so I'll be a year round rider until the economy picks up again.

I bought my bike purely for fun, haven't used it to commute, and never will.

I wish.....Michigan climate doesn't work for bike only, although I did limit myself to a bicycle when I lived in Ottawa for a few years (it was fine except below -40 with the wind.....remember that ice storm about 10 years ago? that sucked).

Now with little kids I've got a minivan. Wife drives a new Accord and racks up the miles for work. She could benefit from a bike more than me. I work across the street so shoes is all I need unless I'm running the kids somewhere.

I'm currently farkling so I can run more errands on the bike.
