It’s common knowledge that the R6 fork conversion is the holy grail of upgrades for the FZ6. It’s not a difficult conversion but sourcing some special parts is always the show stopper for most.

CL Mototech has developed an R6 fork conversion kit for the FZ6 and it looks very complete. At $60-$75 it’s an amazing value.

I have used CL Mototech in the past and I have to say, Chris’s work and attention to detail is outstanding. I wouldn’t hesitate to use his services for this modification.

Yes,Chris does good work for a very fair price.
He got his Mill working good this year and also built me a set of custom rear shocks for my 1981' Honda CB125S which I have a custom luggage rack w/ Krauser hardbags,where the shocks and springs need to fit behind,plus clear the stock chaingaurd which is a tight fit.
Chris has a way of taking these RFY's and working the internals in such a way that they're the best set of rear shocks I've ever had on this bike. I've installed 6) sets of used shocks off Ebay ever since I restored it over the Winter of 2015' up in my 4th floor apartment in Delmont,PA.,but they all wear-out within a year.
I regularly carry up to 50lbs on this CB125/XL200R custom engine bike and it's powerful enough to ride on Interstates(65-70mph as far as I want)and Now it's comfortable. :)

Hi everyone,

I’m currently in the middle of an R6 fork conversion on my FZ6 S2 ABS model.

After a crash, my original FZ6 forks were bent, so I decided to do the well-known R6 conversion instead, mainly because OEM FZ6 S2 forks were around 200$ more expensive. Unfortunately, I’ve run into an issue with the right-side spacer due to the ABS setup.

I had someone machine the spacers for me based on the drawings on LERECORDS, but my mechanic pointed out that the ABS models are different on the right side because of the ABS sensor housing/ring, meaning the spacer I currently have does not fit.

I found an older thread where Dako81 helped someone with a custom ABS spacer for this exact conversion, and I’ve sent him a DM, although I’m not sure if he is still active... last seen 2021.

Does anyone happen to have the dimensions or a drawing for the ABS right-side spacer? I would be more than happy to pay for one that fits or pay for the measurements (im getting desperate), or simply send the measurements to my lathe guy so he can machine it.

I’ve been stuck on this conversion for over 8 weeks, and with the good weather here in the Netherlands, I’m really hoping to finally get back on the road.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you measure and determine the correct dimension/size spacer required ?
 
@Gary in NJ Hi yes I've already had contact with Chris and he told me:
"Anyways, looking at that post, I am guessing that you just need a spacer to fill the additional space between the ring and the fork leg.
Non ABS spacer thickness - ABS sensor plate thickness = ABS spacer(adapter) ring thickness.
The spacer ring presumably would go outside the ABS sensor plate, sandwiched between it and the fork leg."


And honestly, this makes a lot of sense! It’s just that doing all these conversions from inches to mm and making sure everything fits properly is something I don’t really like messing with. That’s why I made this post — to ask if someone here already knows the exact measurements.

The guy who is currently doing the conversion for me (the mechanic, because I’m not really the guy to do this kind of stuff ) told me I needed a spacer like the image below:

So I made the spacer in CAD, and printed them on my 3dprinter so we can try a few different sizes, then I’ll contact the guy who operates the lathe. After that, I’m just praying it works because I want to ride!
