ha, chillin with my mates

Ok it works...here are a couple more pics of what it looks like after de-baffle....will post sound file when i can get my hands on a camera that will record sound in right format for placing on here...can only record on my phone at the moment, and Nokia type files wont attach...plus audio quality is crap!

Nice work Wolfman. The top of the outlet looks close to the shroud, is there any sign of burning/melting???

:)

I had the same concern myself.

No evidence of any burning, or discolouration at all, and you would think that after over 300km's at a fair clip on Sunday, that if there was going to be, there would be.

so the centre section of the surround has been removed, would love to hear this thing live.

Hey Aussiejules, Am getting my hands on a camcorder tomorrow, so will be posting a short vid soon...which will at least give you some idea, but if your interested in catching up for a "live performance", Your an Adelaide person, PM me, and we can organise a time to meet somewhere, so you can see it & hear it for yourself.

Only too happy to spread the joy! :)

sounds like a plan at some stage, im up at ingle farm, i did speak to redline 4 years ago, and should have got it done then.

As long as you are happy with it its money well spent.

Am freaking deliriously happy with it, and it seems the further i ride with the de-baffle, the nicer it is sounding...."bedding in" maybe???

Well today i am even happier, went to the Bike Shop and found out that my geniune yamaha csreen in smoked glass, which i have had on back order since buying the bike, will be in tomorrow, and while i was there i ordered a pair of rizoma mirrors, to replace the standard mirrors, which i find virtually useless for vision, and very out of place with the rest of the bike (anyone agree?)

They are bloody expensive, but if you know anything about Rizoma gear...it is made to the highest standards, these suckers are carved out of solid billet, are an awesome shape, much more aggresive looking, and slightly concaved lenses for an increased field of vision (sorely needed), and have adapter brackets to match.

Have a look at their website:

Rizoma - Universal

See attached photo

Cant wait to get my hands on these! :)

Wow, Rizoma stuff looks sweet.
Damn you Wolfman, now I want them (don't like the mirrors on my bike either). Grips and levers look nice too. Hmm, might have to talk to the boss and convince her that these would make my bike safer...lol

Anyone know if the R6 adapters would fit an FZ6??? Sport version here, so need the adapter http://www.rizoma.com/PDF/ENG/pag_26.pdf to fit to the fairing.

:)

Also waiting to hear the bike.

Rizoma stuff is sweet...but you pay for it!!! you dont even wanna know what i am paying for the mirrors, and adapters, but am confident they will be all they are made out to be...

Download their catolgue, it's like Motorcycle Porn...and potentially very dangerous for your bank balance....lol!

Dunno bout the adapters but? you would think they would have it sorted, they are a big brand, and there are heaps of FZ6's in the world...not Adelaide though!

Got my Screen today... here's pic, there are moe in the Gallery section of my profile, if your interested?

Stumble 06, found out how much those mirrors were today, $255 each (not including adapters)...hence i am having a re-think.

The Rizoma Dynamics are ONLY $125 each...still rich, but still affordable...just!

I dont think they awre as nice, but hey, they still look a whole lot better than the originals....time to ponder!

Hey dude, just want to ask, you are calling what redloine did a de baffle, but if they didnt open up the can did they take out any baffles, or just open the outlets and drill the closest baffle???

Well they actually removed the two end pipes that are part of the stock exhaust, you know the two skinny ones that are about 10mm in diameter, these are definitely a baffle, and replaced them with a new pipe that is at least twice as big in terms of what it lets out...if i ever get my hands on the camcorder i have been promising too, you will know that it's a de-baffle...bike sounds, and runs completely differently.

I really did not pay too much attention to the final detail of what Terry from Redline did, but i do know that it was very clever, neat, and a massive imnprovement in sound, throttle response, and has cleared up any snatchiness from a closed throttle....ring em,, and ask em what they did, or go in and see them, they will show you with a quick picture, and a few concise words...

Hi all

North Queenslander here, from Townsville specifically. Wollfman clued me upto the thread so I thought id say hi.

Have been looking at aftermarket pipes myself and have had the same probs with no one here in Aus really interested. Had my mind set of Scorpions after reading a review which used a heap of different pipes and with various setups and they came out on top.

I have contacted distributors directly from their site and had no luck so I contacted them and have just been contacted by a Brian from Scorpion in the UK. I am going to send an email to the people he recomended and see what happens.

For anyone that is interested, i purchased some mirrors today. Just went into Boltons, whilst killing some time, and found a pair of MCS mirrors that were $35 each including thread adapter screws...they look a bit like the Rizoma ones i wanted (in shape & colour, if not quality), but refuse to pay $255 a mirror for + adapters ($30).

The MCS mirrors look a lot better than the standard mirrors, and fitted on the bike in less than 10 minuts. Vision is slightly better than original mirrors due to fact they sit about 20mm wider when fitted, they sit lower, and look a lot more like they are meant to be on the bike IMHO, than the standard mirrors. They seem well made too.

Still has got me beat, why Yamaha left the Forks, Radiator Cover, Indicator - Headlight Shroud, levers, and triple clamps silver, when they changed the Swingarm & frame to Black on the orange 06 FZ6???

Anyway, here are a couple of photo's of my bargain purchase!

Oh if your in OZ, and you want to get a pair like these, i think the model name is "hornet", the brand MCS.

RE: Scorpion pipes I have word back from one of their UK distributoirs and to get them delivered to my door it will cost around $1200.00 aussie dollars.

Sound fair or a bit much? I am thinking a tad pricey but dont have alot of experience buying them so.

I am still hoping I will get a quote back from a dealer in California so I can compare.

Nice mirrors btw :)

I reckon $1200 is expensive, but have been quoted similar for Staintunes, and about $1100 fitted for some Leo Vince's. So maybe it's not in relation to what's out there.

Have spoken to a couple of people who have bought stuff from America real cheap though, so i am waiting eagerly for the response you get from the US.

While i am here, does anybody know where you can get an after-market Bellypan for an 06 in OZ? Yamaha want $600 for a geniune one!

I had a quote from a US dealer for SS Scorps for $600 shipped .
$1200 is a rip off !
