I called Scott's landline and cell. No response. Scott is right in line with this storm and from what has been predicted his area will see 8 to 12 foot swells. I will try every day as I did when Ian hit a few years ago.
Florida has had 30 tornados at the same time on top of the hurricane as if the hurricane wasn't enough.
My brother in law is in Ashville, NC. It will be quite a while before there is any normalcy.

Thanks all, still here!! I stayed, most everyone left for the other coast
No electric or internet for two days... No damage to the house, one GFI outlet under water (by the boat lift)..
Been on generator most of that.
I "taped" up the house with the smooth, thin, actual duct tape both inside and outside ALL openings.
My lowest part of the house is 8.5' above mean high tide. With the taping, I picked up another 1.5-2'.
Typical reporting 10-20' storm surge in this area. "You will die if you don't leave".
got about 5' surge, about 2/3 the way up the back yard.
Not much rain, much wind (maybe, maybe 100 MPH) but a bunch of tornados (got lucky there).
This pic is old but normally where the water sits. On the lift post closest to the right, you'll see a control box,
about 1' x 1'. Below that is a GCFI outlet which I previously modified and had it right under the control box (raised about 8-10"). That was under water but the main control box was un scathed.

Great to hear you're okay Scott! When I heard what was headed your way I was worried for you. Called but systems have been down.

Probably 50 miles from the eye... Winds were probably 90MPH..
Internet and TV went back out probably till 10-16-24.
Can you say "Rabbit ears"?
I did just discover internet IS WORKING so I can cut back on watching "MASH", Andy Griffith, etc..
Serviced my one generator 5,500/8500 and had lots of "metal sparkles" (10HP Briggs) in the oil
Run it till it blows! I have 5 others...

What type of disconnect for your emergency power?
Funny story: Someone in Fla. was away and came home after the hurricane, turned on the lights and popped the breaker. His fridge door was hot to the touch. He checked his 120 outlets and they were 220 vac! Either back feed from a neighbor's generator or his neutral was now on a leg from a transformer feed that was hot. If his ground was toast or lost at the distribution panel, he might possibly have a hot neutral off a 120 leg.

I have a "Generlink" set up:

After install, once you plug in Generlink to your generator (low / no load to click over) isolates
external, (power from the pole) and connects your entire house to the generator.
Every outlet works in the house, your just limited up to the output of your generator.
So this set up prevents you from back feeding to the the grid (and no electrician to hook up
another breaker box)..
About the only things I can't run is the house central A/C (I have a portable A/C unit), oven (in stove)
water heater, small spa and my 25 gallon air compressor. (I have to use a pancake compressor).
Repaired 5 generators just prior to the storm.
