fz6 vrs r6s ???

Yesterday night well actually this morning i was at a big get together with a bunch of amazing cars like supras, m3's, vipers, you name it. Anyways this kid i know pulls up with his new r6s, and he could prob smoke this fz in which i didnt know. Then i thought about the fz having the r6 engine.... Do you guys think it would be a close race?

Just let me know cause then i might consider it.. just to shut people up.:Sport:

It has an engine based on the R6. The top end is completely different I think, and develops about 2/3 of the power of an R6.

In short, you'll look foolish (as does everyone who thinks racing cars and bikes on the road is a good laugh).

The r6 has a few more hp. So they were to compete in straight line, the r6 would beat the FZ. Now, if you are talking about twisties....the r6 will bitchslap the fz. That's assuming the 2 bikes have the same rider.

Stop caring what every ignorant thinks. We own a pretty capable bike and we love it as it is. He on the other hand doesn't like it, that's why he has an SS. Just tell him that he's even uglier.

Just a bit more than 2/3rds. The R6 only makes about 10 more or so. In a drag race/street race it is all rider if the race is only a few blocks. A good rider on the FZ will make a dork on an R6 look the fool.

The question is about the R6S, not the R6, right? Don't the R6S and the FZ6 have the same engine? I know the R6 engine is different, but thought the R6S and FZ6 engines are the same. For sure, the R6S and the R6 both have a much better suspension thant the FZ6...

Trust me it all comes down to rider, weather its your FZ vs. a R6s, or even the R6. My buddy has a 07 R6 Raven and thinks it is the baddest bike EVER that was until my silver 05 FZ6 ate his lunch in a straight line and the twisties. a decent rider can make up for the difference in hp. i promise

Much agreed Pete and even if the riders were close, gear the FZ6 the same as the R6S and we are really going to go at it.

I ride quite a bit with guys who have R6's, Ninja 636's and a few other litre bikes. In capable hands, (not saying I am amazing, just that I have a few fast miles under my belt) I can smoke most others on "faster" bikes. Comes down to rider ability. Nothing else. Keep in mind that the FZ6 motor is derived from the 2003-2004 R6, with pretty much the same specs.

We dont have the r6s over here but it looks like an old r6

As far as im aware although the fz6's have r6 derived engines they do work on the head and camshafts to create more torque

So a fz6 will pull harder lower down but will loose out at high revs

the likes of the r6 get totally new engines every 2 years so the fz6 engine will be from 2004 or earlier

but theres nought wrong with the acceleration of a fz6, i would worry more about the suspension being capable of dragging u round a tight curve

Thanks guys. Ya the question was about an r6s, which i believe is the lightest also. I know its slower then the regular r6 as well. Just wanted to see what you guys thought. But if anyone knows for sure that the fz6 has the same engine as the r6s, please inform us. Thanks again.

If memory serves me well, from what I was reading on the net last year, the FZ6 has a 2003 R6 engine with changed camshafts and different mapping. Not sure though.

Well last ride in the twisty's i was going about 80-100mph in the not too tight curves and about 60-70 in the tighter ones, the suspension is abit "bouncy" but overall it handles the turns very well

Nothing that 15wt fork oil, Race Tech springs and an Ohlins will not solve! :cheer:

I agree with your statment completely. I was at the 1/8th mile drag srtip and rode a ninja 500 against a ninja 250. I rode the 500 and my dads friend on the 250. We thought it would be fun to run them, know the 500 would spank the 250. But as it turns out the guy i was racing has his professional dragrace liscence and races at that track every week for the past 15 years or so.......needless to say he got a way better start than I and he couldnt be caught. I would have cought him in the 1/4mile track because my front tire was even with his motor when we crossed the finish.

But i got over it when i got back on my fz.....
It just seems to make me feel better.

That is correct. Slightly different cam for more torque and less RPM.
