my 2007 fz6 with stock windscreen has my head scrambled after riding on the highway from the buffering. what about the touring Yamaha windscreen?

I believe you are a thinking of "buffeting"
easiest thing to do is get a taller windscreen or get shorter! I'm 5'7" and have no problems with buffeting.
Either way, you should always ride with ear protection (ear plugs). Wind noise can damage your hearing in no time.

This is a must! Having seen what deafness can do to someones life and self-esteem it's not something you'll want to lose.

I believe cutting the windscreen(or getting a taller seat) would also solve the problem.
I'm 5'10''(shorter legs taller torso), and I don't have any problem with buffeting. The rough air hits me between my shoulders and helmet, so my head is in clean air.
Link below is for a 2006, but the same concept would apply to your windscreen, and in fact, yours should be easier to mod. A little more searching could probably yield a thread for a 2007+ bike.

This can be done cheaply, or for free, so might be worth a shot before buying a new screen that might fix your problem.
And +1 on the hearing protection, I don't get on the bike without earplugs.
like above, taller torso and the OEM windscream hits me in the head. EAR PLUGS for me always!!
After riding naked bikes I'm tempted to ditch the fairing all together. In cold weather the cool air goes right for the nether regions too so, I just don't see the fairing & screen doing much until its up another 4" or so from stock and that does nothing for below!
