After having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year, French scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 200 years and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 150 years ago.

Not to be outdone by the French, in the weeks that followed, an American archaeologist dug to a depth of 20 feet, and shortly after, a story was published in the New York Times: “American archaeologists, finding traces of 250-year-old copper wire, have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network 50 years earlier than the French”.

One week later, the Mirror, in the UK, reported the following: “After digging as deep as 30 feet in his backyard in Dudley, England, Bert Johnson, a self-taught archaeologist, reported that he found absolutely … nothing! Bert has therefore concluded that 250 years ago, The UK had already gone wireless.”

Just makes you proud to be British!!! :eek:

That made me giggle, it also highlights how British humor doesn't necessarily travel well.

Yep, I still don't understand electrics, Where the bloody hell is Cliff when you need him?

Neil

Volts divided by resistance (ohms) = Amps
V/R = A

Or from the illustration - Volts forced through some resistance leaving Amps to get out the other side perhaps?

Imagine the volts being the force of the sgt majors boot forcing a body of soldiers (the amps) along, only the obstacle course (the resistance) slows down the soldiers.

Another analogy a body of water (amps) has a force in the form of potential energy by elevation, which will speed it up (volts) but this can be restricted by the terrain ie: a canyon (the resistance)

Hope this helps :thumbup:

:hijack::spank:

Just to make it up here are a few things that made me laugh:
