Today was the big day for both of us. I took my daughter Elyse out on her first ride and she had a blast! When we pulled back into the driveway I asked her what her favorite part of the ride was...."the turns!" She says.

Her Mom (my ex), isn't real thrilled with the idea and says that I'm gonna do what I'm gonna do......Yep, she's right:thumbup:
We rode for about a half hour and speeds up to 50 mph. I'm so glad she had fun:cheer:

I can't wait to get my daughters on the back but I have a few years to wait because they are three and two right now. :BLAA:
I can't remember where I saw it, but I came across what looked like a car seat for motorcycles. My fiance's son is short for his age and tip toes the pegs, so no ride for him yet

I agree, your doing the right thing. The enjoyment out of riding on a motorcycle is somthing every one should experience. Especially wearing the right equipment.
question; I have no children of my own, but i have a niece and she is 6. How young is to young on a motorcycle ? as long as they can touch the pegs ?
I remember being 4 on the back of my dads BMW k100s but he also had a back rest.

I was fine, of course being extra cautious. I was more proud to finally have her on the bike. At first she put her arms around me, but I noticed she would lean to one side to look. Finally I told her to lean back against the top case and hold onto the grab handles...much better.
There is a thread somewhere about what age to take kids on the bike.
My daughter is 8 and tall for her age. My requirements were that she could flat foot the pegs and it be her choice to want to go AFTER I explained what could possibly happen.
I was about her age when my Grandfather would pick me up from school on his '81 Goldwing, my Dad would get so pissed when he found out! I didn't care....In my mind I was copilot of a spaceship for those precious minutes til I got home.

My son is 13 and this is his second season of riding. Last year he was a little freaked out by being on it. I took it slow and just cruised around town. This year he asked me why I drive so slow with him. I picked it up a little and he now loves the twisties and I hardly know he's back there sometimes! My wife also has an FZ6 and riding is now a family event. I love every minute of it!!! :thumbup:

I got to take my grand daughter riding when she was visiting. She was used to riding with my son so no big thing for her but we always had fun. I used to take my son pillion when he was about 10. C'mon great grand children!

Awesome! My baby girl is 8 and had her first ride this summer, rocking all the gear as well :thumbup: Before I let her on I grilled it into her for weeks how dangerous it can be. Like your ex, mine is less than thrilled with the idea but knows that while I respect her thoughts on it there isn't anything she can do about it.
Unlike yours, my daughters favorite part is acceleration.
She likes to hold on to me and alternate which shoulder she is looking over. It doesn't bother me though because she keeps her body centered on mine. What does bother me is when she stops looking over my shoulders!!!! I felt her helmet hit mine and stay there. Her grip was still good but I pulled over to check to see if she was tired and resting her neck and she flipped her shield up and told me that she fell asleep

Good point about her falling asleep, I hadn't thought about that! She use to fall asleep in the rear seat for my mtn. bike.
