Help Need New Chain and Sprocket Set

Hey Guys,

I have a FZ600 2007. I was riding around with too much slack on my chain, and eventually the chain came out of place and its edge got stuck on the teeth of my rear sprocket.

So I need to go ahead and replace my chain and sprockets, I have the manual and it does not seem too difficult, so I am going to give it a shot and replace it myself

But I have no idea what I supposed to buy, I've been on several sites and just seems really complicated.

I am looking for a set that gives me as much performance as my stock set or slightly better. Can anyone give me some information so I am not as lost as I am now.

In addition you should replace the countershaft sprocket retaining washer and nut:

WASHER, PLATE 90201-20023-00
NUT 90179-20010-00

Thanks a lot, I will go ahead and buy the one you recommended, I just did some research on 520 vs 530, and since I need to buy new it seems like a pretty good idea to buy 530.

What about the sprocket sizes, do you have any recommendations there.

16/46 is stock I've read that up one in front gives better gas lowers rpm at higher speed read that on motomummy I think 530 is stock thickness ( I'm not racing anyone so steel and 530 would be the way i would go) you want durability and reliability in my opinion

I went with 17/44 last November. I have put about 7500 miles this setup and have been happy with the results. Although there is a minor sacrifice in torque at any particular gear/speed vector there is a slight increase in MPG if you are running on the highway at a steady 65-75 MPH. The gearing change is almost exactly 10% so your speedometer and odometer will read 10% LOWER than they do with stock setup.

Sorry to thread jack but is changing that back one way important or when I change the sprocket/ chain 17/46 gonna feel the same as rear 44? Or do you really feel that torque loss?

I'm about to change my chain and sprockets. I see a lot of people saying the front socket nut should be changed but I'm looking at the service manual for a 2006 model and it only indicates the lock washer needs to be changed. It is on page 5-1 in the diagram.
