Hi, I'm Adam. This is my fitness story.

Thanks for all the replies guys!

I just picked up some whey protein today, drank a little during work, and plan on drinking 16 oz after the workout tonight (kenpo X)

I picked up some protein bars as well.

I'll try to get up and jog tomorrow morning!

Tomorrow is my rest day, they say to rest or do stretch X. I think I'll do the stretch one, as I really want to just get it in the habit of doing it every night (or morning)

And I'm trying to eat healthier. I'm looking for stuff with more protein, less carbs and fat, and lower cholesterol.

It's not easy, but I'm doing it!

Like I said earlier, I can't really see the effects yet but I don't expect to. I am feeling it, though! I just seem to have a lot more energy and happier at that! Now to get through this last week and a half of school!

After 14 years of lifting and training it has become habit for me, but hopefully this will help you. Don't do whey protein during the day when you are not working out. It is a very fast digesting protein and is best right after the work out to help fill the new tears in your muscles with protein instead of the built up lactic acid. Next, a good long lasting protein shake is casein protein. Since you are working out at night, I recommend the whey right after workout and the casein in the morning or during the day. Another source of great nutrition is meal replacements. They provide everything you need in a meal plus more. Seeing as you want to lose weight and not gain it, I recommend staying with healthier foods and not the replacement shake. And now, for the two best sources of protein (swear to God).....milk and egg whites. Not joking. They are the best source of protein you can get, cheaper than shakes, and the other natural vitamins and nutrients are great as well. If you prefer to not boil eggs and eat the egg whites, grocery stores carry and egg white liquid found in a container similar to a half gallon of milk. Very convenient to use for omelets and every other time you would cook eggs. I am sorry for being long-winded but I hope this helps. If you have ANY questions concerning nutrition let me know, the trainers in college taught me a ton as I tried gaining weight the past 8 years for football (I know its the opposite, but you have to know what takes weight off before you can put weight on).

Forgot to mention to not waste money on the high protein shakes. The average human can digest a MAX of 28 grams of protein an hour and all the weigh protein you take in will digest in and hour and be absorbed or wasted out the you know:spank:

This is great information! I'll pick up some casein protein tomorrow during lunch (maybe try to get some before work)

Well, I made a mistake by drinking the whey protein during work, then! I did about 10 oz of water/whey protein mix during work. I'm sure it didn't hurt too much.

I've got about another hour of class or so, and I've got to do a bit of homework before working out tonight. Should be some intense stuff! But I'll make sure to drink the whey protein after. How much should I drink after the workout?

Good luck with it all!

Mike and I are going through a fitness phase at the moment - we have a fully equipped home gym - crosstrainer, mini tramp, punchbag, weights, treadmill etc. It was going really well - muscles were hurting where I didn't know I had muscles.

Then I got chocolate at Easter :(

Look at your protein shakes serving size and how much protein is in each serving. Then adjust that to about 30 grams to take in. and if you have chocolate vanilla or strawberry, many mix with milk instead of water if they do not like the taste because it helps the taste and milk has about 8 grams of protein to every 8 ounces so it allows you to use less protein mix and in turn force down a smaller amount of drink.

If you use milk though, make sure to wash it out good right away every time otherwise your shaker will begin to smell of an odor that DOES NOT go away even with the dishwasher (I've gone through at least 10 shakers because of this in my short lifetime)

Small division 3 school called Illinois College. Went there because they offered "Academic Scholarships". Meaning they paid for me to play football but had to list it as academic for the NCAA. Therefore they could never take away the scholarship because of injuries or quitting as long as I stayed at a 2.5GPA or above. This meant the coaches completely understood academics first because there was no money tying us down to stay with the team. Also meant they used it as I positive and preached good academics and life choices. Helped me graduate in 3 1/2 years with a 3.7
