I couldn't fill my truck up last night...

We have a refinery strike happening up in Scotland. It has automatically put 5 pence on the price of a litre. It sucks to high heaven. Like you say though thank God for the bike.

Holy crap...what kind of truck? My tacoma takes ~16 gallons once on E and gas is around $4 out here.
I think its a tank? I just thought it costs me $92.00 to fill up my SUV.

My V8 Dakota has a 22 gallon tank and gets 14.3 MPG!!!!! $3.75/gal and climbing here!!! This gas crap is getting out of control and yet the gas companies CEO's are taking vacations in their Leer Jets. Man are we getting screwed...LMAO. I ride my FZ to work whenever its not raining or snowing or snow on the ground for that reason. Buying my FZ was the best thing I have ever bought, and this site just makes me happier that i bought a FZ!!

Mine does the same thing, I just have to reauthorise my card. 24.5 gallon tank lasts about a week. 12.5 mpg. I wish I could use a smaller truck.

I went from getting between 14MPG (hauling) to 17MPG to all of the sudden getting 20+MPG with the change from winter mixed gas to regular gas....VERY NICE! 
I paid $3.99 for regular on Chicago's northside last summer so I can't imagine what it will be at its peak this year.
Looking forward to only getting about 20MPG out of my FZ6 this Sunday

How much gear do you carry Steve? What cubic capacity are we talking here?
12.5 miles to the gallon, that is crappy or is it good for a US truck I don't know?

Analyst say that over the summer prices in the US may reach over the 5 dollar mark. just thought you should know. Lol thank god I got 2 little 4 bangers, The G20 and the FZ.
You got a point though Our work van a 5.2L V8 , we've never filled it all the way it's not worth it.

My big chevy 2500hd 4x4 extended cab with the optional 8.1 liter gas motor takes over $100 to fill now. At 14 freeway, 12 city, and 8 with a trailer its not getting driven much these days. I need to get a batterey tender

My 4x4 Dakota 5.2l 5-spd was killing me on gas, so I sold it to my Dad and bought a '97 accord 2 door 2.2l 5-speed w/113k miles in sharp condition. The first tank I got 29mpg with 20% highway 80% city at around a max of 40mph, I was impressed. I just filled up the second time and got 31mpg with 40% highway. I am very happy. I would have spent almost $100 going as far as this car has taken me on $39.
I also stop and think, and get sad when I think of the sticker that is still on the back window of my truck that has Kalvin pissing on rice burners, right above my Flowmaster sticker. lol

Canadian prices are a little bit more expensive than US...right now it is $1.30 a liter which makes it almost $5 a gallon.....couple hours ago i did put $120 of regular gas to 5.4 V8 F-150...it already was showing half of a quarter tank of gas before i put the gas,,,,after $120 ,,it still didnt reach the full mark!!! this is ridicilous.....! unfortunately,,it is not going to be any better from now
This is probably a really daft question but why do you all need V8 5 Litre engines when a 2.0 litre will do the same job. Is it because fuel was never really an issue? Or is it just a cultural thing? The reality is if you want to save money you got to consider a smaller engine. This question is not just aimed at you, I use you as a generic.

'07 NBS GMC Sierra Crew Cab 4X4, 24 gallon tank. I got to 21.75 before it stopped. Gas is about $3.40ish a gallon for regular.
I get 15 mpg in the city and 20 on the highway. It has the V8 that drops to a V4 at cruise speeds. It's really pretty good, all things considered.
I wanted a V8, 5.3 liter, to move the large vehicle. I know sounds dumb. I don't drive the truck too much, motorcycle or bicycle mainly. I wanted the crew cab for the family truckster, 4X4 for ski trip and a pickup for the Home Depot runs.

Simple, Torque. You need torque to tow heavy things, horses, campers, boats et cetera. That and for the longest time gas was cheap. That and I am not fond of larger displacement inline four cylinders. The natural second order imbalances (twice crankshaft speed) cause lots of shaking (nee gm quad 4) that can be grating. Granted balance shafts have quelled the vibration to a murmur, but it is still there. Another thing is most Americans do not understand how DOHC engines produce power, they measure a vehicles power by pushing the gas pedal a fourth of an inch. Believe me, trying to explain volumetric efficiency and how spinning the engine (once warm) does not hurt it to my co workers is very tough, you would get similar look if you asked a first date if he/she ever got hit by a German Buzz Bomb.

It sometimes makes me happy that by car has been in storage since i joined the army in '05. With the 6.6 liter getting 9-10 mpg on the highway makes me not miss filling it up but i miss the car.

I'm getting afraid to drive mine. last time I filled it up (two weeks ago, with 87 at 3.69 per gallon) it cost me $87.00. I drove the truck home and parked it. riding the FZ to work daily and buying a set of tires every other month it's still cheaper then driving my 13 MPG pickup.:surrender:
