So, about a month ago, i let the bike sit for about a week & half; maybe two because i didn't trust the worn out tired i had on them. about a week prior to letting it sit, i noticed i was suddenly only getting about 35-38mpg instead of the usual 45-48., i'm not mechanically inclined; so i'm kinda fearing the worst T-T w/e that could be  i just got the tires replaced and the fluids in the bike were all renewed, also the chain & sprockets are brand new as well.

What are some potential causes for the drastic mpg loss? the bike has about 45k miles on her. i did her 24k mile service a bit late at about 30k, any help/hints would be great so i know what i'm dealing w/ Thanks!

Tire pressure will certainly effect your mileage. Also, a new set of tires can reduce mileage as they wear in. Have seen it in the past.

Other than that, maybe the O2 sensor went bad and the bike is overcompensating with more fuel to avoid a potentially lean condition? Clogged or dirty air filter?

Hmm, ill check out those causes; thanks! tire pressure is set a little under max, with enough room for when the air expands. air filter & such were also just replaced. im thinking it might be that sensor over compensating; it is an 04model :s so i guess it's about time to replace it T-T? i guess it could be worse! Thanks for all the info! :)

At the risk of sounding daft.........what's a TPS?

Throttle Position Sensor.

The '04 and some '05 models has a problem in which they'd corrode or carbon up and read incorrectly - and as a result, could have serious effects on your economy.

Have a look at the link I posited, it explains it better - and give you something to check if you want. (free to check/diagnose - and you can do it yourself)

Cheers,
Rick
