I've been riding for a few years, but fairly new to motorcycle ownership since 2008. I want to upgrade my exhaust to a Yoshi, but Yoshi says that they don't make anything for an FZ6. Would it be possible to get the new ones for the FZ1 and just re-jet my bike?

I also want to convert my banana seat to a single seat.

:welcome:to the forum!

You can get a TCP(sp?) seat cowl to go over the rear portion of the seat. They look really good and also leave you with the option for 2 up riding.

There are quite a few options on exhausts. Two brothers racing, Leo Vince, Scorpion and many more. Search the site and you'll probably find something you like.

As long as you're just doing a slip on exhaust you should have no problem with additional fuel management. You won't have carbs on late model FZ6 and fuel management is done by a computer (ECU) with fuel injection.

The important issue is to have good gear first! Protective pants, jacket, boots, gloves and of course helmet. ATGATT. All The Gear All The Time!
Again, welcome to this great forum! :D

The FZ6 is fuel injected... so you can't re-jet... Why try to make the FZ6 into something it is not? If you want more, just buy a faster bike... Easier, maybe even cheaper and bike will run better in stock form... Oh, yeh... don't forget to sign your organ doner card...

He said he wanted to upgrade his exhaust. Not strip it down and turn it into a race devil. We'll all change the bike, whether it is toward more of a tourer, more of a sport bike, more of an adventure bike, or more of a scooter.

A LOT of people swear by, and will only buy, yoshimura.

Just encourage the bloke, welcome him, and learn from any mistakes he may make.

Again, welcome to the forum.

His post header says "Ï need more"... I took that to mean ( in conjunction with his exhaust question) he either needs more noise or more speed... I chose the premise of speed to respond to... Wasn't "dissing" him in any way, shape or form...

I still maintain... if it is more speed he wants, best to buy a faster bike, with a chassis and suspension to handle it...

Pretty much my thoughts as well. I used to want to put all that fancy aftermarket stuff on my bike, but I just got to the point that it didn't matter to me anymore. I figure with the bike in stock form there's less chance of things going wrong. And besides, I don't come close to using the full capability of my bike anyway. Why need more.

To the OP. It's your money do what you want. Not trying to knock on you at all. Good luck.

If your looking for more you can get it nevermind them but leo vince makes a good exhaust and get the cat eliminator as well and add a fuel programmer (juice box or dynojet) and a couple other odds and ins, air box mod, air filter, and you might be able to hit a 3digit hp rating

By more I meant a different look than stock. I like the power of the FZ6 (and so does my insurance; rates would go up if I went with a bigger bike...like the FZ1 or R1). I was thinking of my old Honda Magna when I asked about re-jetting (very tired that night). I'm not looking to really change the power of the bike, just the looks. As with most FZ6 riders, I just want something that's not like the rest of the stock FZ6 bikes.

I can see how my original message could be taken as wanting more power, but I do thank you for your reply.

Looks like you could get an older one maybe according to Sparky,

OR

If you really wanted something different + a new Yoshi exhaust....You could...
Do an R6 exhaust conversion, no idea what it does to the performance but i've seen a guy with the r6 exhaust... saw the bike couldn't figure out what it was... asked him, he said it was an fz6 with an r6 exhaust, thought that was pretty cool.

However personally i think the undertail exhausts are part of the beauty of the FZ, so if it were me i'd prolly toss some Leo's or 2 bros on there and keep it the stock config. :D

Pics of whatever you do though!

Hasn't Wolfman spent like $15k on his bike, and not yet hit triple digits?

Hell, he has ceramic coated the entire header system!

As far as looks go I have wanted to do this for a while now install the stock aprilla shiver 750 exhaust on the bike imo it is the best looking exhaust out there plus with the angles it almost looks as if it would work perfectly on our bikes heres a link with a good picture of it http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/aprilia/aprilia_shiver_750 07.htm

if i hit the curb at a 90 degree angle, hard on the front bike, i might do a front flip, and land unscathed in a stoppie...

Chances are REASONABLY slim though :-D

Google is your friend :) These look great

Yoshimura FZ6

I contacted Yoshimura Japan and they passed me to Yoshimura US. They then contacted me this morning and told me that the part is "Special Order only" and at today's exchange rate is $1,287.50 and they require 50% up front before they will order it. If you are interested call them at 1-800-634-9166 and ask for Lauren Waters.

I won't be calling them :)

Those suckers better be gold plated before I would even think of paying 1300 for some cans

At current US exchange rates, isn't that like 35AUD?

I might get a couple of sets. One for the Fazer, and one to attach to a brushcutter/weedeater shaft to make myself a two stroke Pugil stick.
