Hard bags, help?

So after trying to get a gallon of milk home in a jacket (no it doesn't work well), i've had enough, i gotta get some luggage... Problem is i really know nothing at all about quality of brands etc. TBH the only company i can think of that i know makes bags is Givi...is this the way to go? Anybody use something else?

I have soft saddle bags from nelson riggs and they work great. Just never put them on backwards. My old roommate did this with his and it rubbed on the tire a bit and he has a hole in one of the bags. But I have never had a problem with mine and can fit a gallon of milk in them. The gallon jug is just a little wider than the bag so it looked funny with the milk in there but it made it home.

How about SHAD? I have soft bags, but I've heard good things.

I only have experience with Givi and I can vouch for its outstanding quality. Don't remember ever seeing anyone mention anything negative about the company. Then again, I've read nothing but good things about Shad as well.
Cheaper alternative is to get hard cases from JC Whitney or Sears.
Personally, if I had to do it again I'd go with Givi again.. and again

Thanks guys, i have no issue personally with Givi but i seem to remember somone on the Versys forum whining about it not being 100% made to there bike (whatever)... Shad looks nice too, wish dealerships carried some hard cases so you could look them over real good, internet pics tend to not be tremendously helpful...

On a side note...i agree, how does one pour milk from a bag? lol

Just looked over the install instructions for the Shad cases, looks really simple for my bike anyways, and that's a big deciding factor for me because i'd like them to be easily removable to let my bikes beauty shine sometimes (yeah yeah people call it the ugly duck...blah blah...but mines pretty i swear ). Looking up to see if givi has instructions for my bike too. just as a quick comparison.

Givi has pretty good instructions, and there are quite a few people on here who have their racks and can chime in if you run into trouble. I'm with Eric... I have them, and would buy them again if needed!

I have the shad top case rack and it was super easy to install, it took around 20 minutes. I think I read the givi topcase rack is a little difficult to install. Someone that has one should be able to answer that for you better though.

Yeah, Givi was not easy to install by any means, but the install varies greatly bike to bike. So FZ6 install is not really applicable to Versys. I'd search Versys forums for Givi vs Shad, if I was worried about install being too difficult.

I learned not to let my gf sit a box of bounce dryer sheets on the counter next to a loaf of bread. It took me about 4 sandwiches before I figured out why my bread smelled and tasted like perfume lol. It was not a good week

I got this motorcycle trunk on ebay. No where close to Givi quality but it's alright. I have this and Motocentric Saddlebags. I use the tank bag to put rain gears when I go for a weekend ride with my wife. That top case is a nice size, I can fit both helmet in there... It comes with the mounting plate too!

+1 for the shad topcase love mine i have the SH46liter... easy install and solid structure... and it works well with any aftermarket exhaust unlike givi...

The more and more i look the more i i'm liking the Shad's.... exhausts wont be an issue because kawasaki decided to put a car muffler under my engine to double as a belly pan found this mount on twistedthrottle that looks interesting... quick on/off mounts...exactly what i'm looking for but gotta look into it a bit more and see if they make that mount for my bike for the cases i eventually decide on :thumbup:TwistedThrottle.com : SW-MOTECH Quick-Lock Sidecarrier (Kawasaki Versys 650, '07-'10) Evo Style - KFT.08.725.20000.B

Really nice, but only relevant if you go with side cases. If you just go with a large top case you won't need to ever remove anything. Top case alone can holds a lot of bags of milk :thumbup:

Wow that is a great job!

I bougt an ebay 2 helmet trunk too, mine was $65 with $35 in ebay bucks I had saved and he knocked off another $15 for a scratch on the top from shipping.
