For the record, I have to say this is where I was 100% at first, and then I softened a little when he was a good sport about [it].

A week later I was back to rolling my eyes again at him, watching him tell younger riders to "not take any crap" from cars. So yeah, I think the ban was the right thing to do, given that he didn't change, but in there somewhere I suspect there's a decent, normal guy waiting to come out.

Yeah he's a friendly enough sort of guy. But he went out of his way to attract flaming. So flame him I shall.

He was annoying but also entertaining at times.

Well, most of the time, this forum is a bit too touchy feely for me. I've been afraid to post my feelings on things for awhile. Vegasrider seems wrong or questionable most of the time, but as soon as someone calls him on it, one of the mods closes the thread or calls the person on it.

It's why I mostly just lurk anymore. I might post a few times if I'm bored. I prefer forums with distant moderators who are mainly just looking for illegal stuff.

What? Speaking ill of the Rider of Vegas? INSTABAN!!!

But I do agree that the flavour of this forum is definitely very vanilla and PG-13. I hear a lot that this is a family forum but that doesn't really make much sense. Your 8 year old children are constantly looking over your shoulder asking you what "reverse cowgirl" is?

I must admit to having directed my forum traffic elsewhere and lurk more now than I have in the past. This isn't because moderators ever really shut anything down. They really are pretty distant still. But the flavour of the forum does really go sour when things get at all interesting.

It seems the way things go on this forum now is:

-thread asking "Do you use your clutch?"
-thread asking "Do you use your rear brake?"
-thread asking "Do you like bananas poll"
-interesting thread shut down by page 4 when people start getting worked up but are still within the bounds of reasonable discussion
-another thread asking about clutch usage in the same month
-a "do you wear riding boots poll" followed by 17 pages of someone getting flamed for wearing running shoes

Come on people.....you're motorcycle riders! You're supposed to be that part of the population on the leading edge of being rough and tough, lean and mean.

I myself feel somewhat the same (scary to say)... I remember when i first joined and there were a bit more back and forths.. "people had a bit thinker skin" is probably the best way to put it, or "people didnt take everything so serious".. I know were are trying to cater to the masses, but I really believe that the days of calling people out over their bs are over, which is kinda sad.. a bit of that within reason is good every now and then.. but I seriously feel like the forum is moving to a too "sterile".. I come here everyday and try to contribute as much as I feel necessary. This is just as much my forum as it is yours and everybody elses (other then admin)" and we are all in this together.

I sort of remember the whole reason tc got banned and yea it was a bit excesive, but I remember alot worse back in the day..

after reading wolfman's post, yea... i sort of agree now, but at least they tried... too bad he didnt...

Haha, I'm surprised I didn't get banned. I was more of an idiot I'm sure but I was mindful of forum rules and a couple gentle nudges from the mods clued me in to where to draw the line on this forum.

I now look for interesting discussion on other forums, but stay on here because the people are pretty awesome. But driving traffic away in the long run is not necessarily a good thing.

Rino60 agrees. :bla: I did it to mock him on occasion, and it drove me mad as I typed it. Prenouns Rian, PRENOUNS!!

Lol....some good points Lone, but the reason this forum is so popular is because a lot of peoplke dont want to go to a forum and be abused...this is a nice PG forum, and it will stay that way....if you want to get lewd, rude, and crude, there are plenty of other forums that offer that...this is a pleasent place for Guys, Girls, and my kids....who looks quite regularly as i know other members kids do too.

Keep up the good work people.

Yeah, that's exactly why I'm not too bothered by it.

In all fairness, you can still get as colourful as you want here to have a bit of fun. The mods are still pretty laid back. It's the same like a night out with friends and friends of those friends. You can all have a bunch of fun but when you start acting like a tool you get warned....then asked to leave.

There's nothing really there to complain about. I do get put off now and again by the sometimes touch-too-sterile content. But then I get it out of my system by watching a video of a puppy being thrown in a blender.

I would love to weigh in on this, but I'm not entirely sure all my papers are in order.. as you were, everyone!

But seriously, I think if Wolfman posted what he did sooner.. the reason for banning and the fact that mods/admins tried, there would be no controversy! He apparently wasn't banned all of a sudden and out of nowhere. Most of us just didn't know that his posts were reported and he'd been contacted to stop trolling.
He made plenty of valuable contributions, but for every great posts there were 10 troll posts. Personally I never took any of those seriously, but it's not my call. Sure this forum might be PG-13, but I don't mind being a member of one of the few places left on the intarwebz that IS still PG-13. :don'tknow:

Overall I think he was just thread poison. Whenever its the same guy over and over that is in an argument it is usually that guy that is the problem. However there is also a pattern of people who make sure they are a part of these debate type threads and get just as rude on the other side of whatever argument is be discussed. I do agree that the moderation does seem a bit relaxed toward certain individuals and not others but so what. This is just a motorcycle forum, if it bothers you too badly then its not worth your time and distress to read the threads. We do need to remember that there are still people coming into the site who have real questions that may seem dumb to us but this may be their first motorcycle experience or they may just be trying to make conversation. Time for a big forum hug.:hug:

Erci in an ideal world what you say would be spot on.
However as soon as you start to justify moderation decisions, conjecturer occurs which then leads to more justification and discussion where it is not required.
The decision to ban members is taken very seriously and all efforts are made to make this a last ditch option.
All the members know and sign up to the rules.

We all take "moderating" seriously on this forum.

Without talking about any SPECIFIC members, most of the reported posts are actually made by members NOT by moderators/administrators.

When a post/member is reported, the moderators discuss it in the Staff forum. We then send a PM to the person involved and sometimes issue an infraction/7 day ban.

We always try to resolve the situation. Sometimes the reported member refuses to listen. There are MANY, MANY times when a thread/post is deleted or a member banned as they do not follow the site rules. Warnings are always given first.

This is a great forum.

It's a friendly forum where you can express your opinions without retribution AS LONG a you respect other members and follow the site rules. It's what makes us different to other forums.

It's a credit to the all the members, moderators and administrators on this site :)

hahaha god damn it Cliff you edited my post you goon.

Blatant abuse of power!

I actually didn't mean to do that! Sorry!!! I thought I was hitting the quote!:disapprove::spank:
I'll fix it.....

LMAO!!! :rof: :rof: :rof: :rof:
Of all threads for this to happen on!! Thanks for the laughs, guys!!! I REALLY need it today!!
:D

And MY two cents (FWIW), the MAIN reason I like this forum is that people on here are very nice. I think when people are expected to be respectful of others, those that are normally that way are going to stick around, and those who aren't are going to go to one of the hundreds of other motorcycle forums where acting like an @ss is acceptable, if even not expected. I am a member of two of "those" forums. This one is by far my favorite. Mods, keep up the good work. :cheer:

Well said Karen :cheer:

Countless reported threads/posts by You the members of this forum were discussed ad nauseum by all the Admins/Mods & the decision had been reached to ban him.

He then logged in under another name & posted a thread with one simple intention , to make him the centre of attention , he was a troll plain & simple & we as a leadership group stand by the decision that was made

This is a family forum , thats what makes this forum so much happier than the rest. I regard some of these members among my best mates & we have the friendly nature of this forum to thank for that

If you want to spend the day swearing , abusing members , flaming , posting indecent pictures & generally trash talking then there are plenty of other forums out there that allow it , I for one like 'OUR' forum the way it is so lets keep it that way :D

Did anyone else get an private message or email from TC regarding his ban? It showed up in y email from the forum, but doesn't show up in my private messages.

Yes. I assume he sent it to as many people as possible. One more attempt to get attention.

I will miss his accident videos though.

Yep, I got one too. It was posted right on that e-mail, no link to go to your private messages. It did go off on who the person was that banned him, that they were cowards and other crap... Whoever wrote it was quite upset at the time... Shrug...

Just my .02 regarding this forum. I belong to another local m/c forum which I won't name but I never post on it because of the nastiness and profanity of alot of it's members. Either you get called a not so nice name (read profane) or get a sarcastic "cool story bro" comment if you should post a story about having a great ride or experience on your bike.

This forum however is the opposite, and even though at times the posts turn into a "love fest" (of which I am at times most guilty of) in general the members treat each other with respect and courtesy. Sometimes the joking seems to take on a life of it's own (which again, I'm most guilty of) but I feel that it keeps the forum friendly and upbeat. There's no lack of useful knowledge around here and when a serious problem should plaque a member it doesn't take long for someone to lend their experience to solve the problem.

I have on rare occasions disagreed with a post but I'm most careful to respect their opinions even though they may contradict mine. I know the mods/admin have a hard job to do and I appreciate the thought out and collaborative effort to resolve issues that arise.

I deleted the thread and posted the reason why. I recieved multiple pms from Tcmakers some were not nice the last one was apologizing.

I do however stick to the decision of the mods. As for making a ton of money from the site. It basically pays for itself. The server rental is 200 USD per mos and the software updates for all the plugins a modifications run about 500 bux a year.. So I am making about .02 cents per hour when i take the costs off. I have also given literally thousands of dollars of bike parts.. A laptop ect that were bought with the excess profits so that comment REALLY PISSED ME OFF!! And I let Tcmaker make money off the site selling his stuff... so

When I think about at the literaly hundreds of hours per year I alone spend keeping it running. Not to mention all the volinteer time the mods put it. Unlike alot of other sites admins.. I still care that this place is run as per the mission statement. I paid for it. I sacrificed 100s of hours of my free time so Its run how I want it to be. When you visit someones house you cant just walk in with muddy shoes and pee on the couch without pissing off the man that pays the mortgage. I pay the mortgage. There are 120000 other users that dont have a problem and have been members for years and have not even had to get one warning...

1% of the users cause 99.99% of the problems.

So when one user after being warned many times over many months starts taking tooo much time from me and the mods to babysit they get banned. ....
