PC Technical help please....?

I have been trying to download some sound files for my son.
Transformers sound files.
My PC wants to open them with Quicktime player. Except I don't have Quicktime pro and I can't save them.
I have tried to set windows media player as the default player but still no joy.
I don't want to purchase Quicktime pro as I am going to purchase a new PC in the next few months.

How can I save sound files?

Most links to files should be able to right click - you simply select 'save file as' 'save target as' or something like that. The problem with opening media files in the browser is that 'plug-ins' or built in little browser programs, try to open them inside te browser. Once you've saved them, you can right click a file and open it using any specified program.

So, you click the link, then it takes you to a white page with the quicktime player in the middle, right? Generally, instead of left-clicking the link, right click and hit "Save Target As...". That works 90% of the time.

Then use win amp or VLC to convert the files to mp3 or whatever. Make sure you hunt around for that "remove permissions" deal when you convert.

If not, you'll need to search the web for those "download" sites. Most of them are to strip vids from youtube, but some will strip any streaming type audio/video.

I have tried the right click option and that's where I get the prompt to part with me hard earned cash. You can save if you update to Quicktime pro.
I don't get the save as option that you normally get.

Could you post a link to where you're trying to get these from or what sounds you're exactly trying to get? Maybe we can find them at another site for you or figure out from your link how to bypass this bit.

Link please and give us the extension letters.

Often times playing them and/or clicking the link places them in your browsers cache and all you have to do is look for them by on your local PC. Sometimes they have the original name and sometimes its converted. But the times and extension can be used to identify them.

on the moviesoundclips search results page, right click on the link and chose "Save As...", "Save Target As..." or "Save Link As..." depending on your browser.

Basically I am trying to load sound bites to put on my mobile.
Optimus prime talking, Bumblee be etc.
My son James (4) is mad bonkers about transformers. I wanted to play it in the car for him and pretend the car was a Transformer.
It's a bit daft I know. Children grow up so quick I want to capture as much magic as I can.

For those of us who wish to edit audio files this is what I use.

You can make your own ring tones from CDs MP3s etc and send them to you're phone.

I am running that version at the moment. It lets me open and view but not save.
