month old '09 fz6 battery dead

er, no.

My bike is 7 years old and still has the original battery. Sometimes it stands for about a month and still starts first time.

I'm talking about when a rider just starts learning to ride, and stays near idle too long, and frequently has to re-start the bike due to stalling, etc. Pretty easy to consume the charge by re-starting the bike 6-8 times in 20 minutes, without ever developing enough RPM to recharge the battery.

My OEM battery was still in the bike when I sold it after 4 years of use, with having completely discharged it 2-3 times in the first few weeks of ownership.

Okay, I think everything is fine! I think. I have a battery tender on the way from amazon, so I guess I won't need to visit the dealership anytime soon...thank god!

Once again, thanks for all the helpful responses!

Check the voltage regulator! I don't know how this apparatus is configured on an FZ, but this is a classic symptom for a car.

I'm assuming it's equivalent to an alternator? My bike has been jump started from a truck with the vehicle running so I'm sure it has contributed to this problem. My battery gets drained during stop n go traffic. I have to stay on the freeways for my bike to have zero issues with the battery.

Is it expensive? Is it easy to replace. Anyone have a part number or any after market one will do?

Yup if you jump it with the engine running on the car or truck you can toast the regulator/rectifier on the bike. Always jump from another vehicle with the engine not running.
