The Rant Thread

Must be time for a rant....Hold onto your butts

Warning...Not for the faint hearted.

Just got pulled over for failing to stop at an amber light.

Rule is, "Stop if it is safe to do so".

You be the judge...

Just going past a car that was in the left lane. I normally stay to the left of the right lane...closest to the centre of the road. Speed up slightly to get past the blind spot, while moving away slightly to give myself more time (just in case). Light goes amber. I continue through, with loads of time to spare. The reasons for this are twofold. 1. When I'd moved across to give a wide berth to the car, I had aligned myself with the white arrow in the middle of the lane, and reflecting nicely in the light is a patch of oil/diesel or something else that is gonna pose a potential risk to stopping. I could have waited until I was past it and nailed the picks, and done a very nice stoppie, but apparently that is frowned upon. 2. I could easily make it safely through the intersection.

Anyhow. This cop parked on the cross road at the lights decides that I'm doing way over the limit and had plenty of time to stop, so he comes after me, and hits the flashing red and blues. I acknowledge him with a nod and a thumb, indicate to move into the left lane, and look for a side street, to pull off onto (the main road not being a place I like to park). Just at the approach to the side street this Einsteinian c*** flashes his high beams as I check my mirrors, and I misjudged the turn or maybe hit a manhole cover (not sure...couldn't freaking see properly), and locked up the rear as I turned in (and no I wasn't using the rear brake:D).

I've pulled up going, "F*** me", and these morons have taken offense. They nearly had me sliding down the road, and they're upset?.......turned that around pretty quickly. I explain that I was just looking for somewhere safe to pull over, and get told, "I have to pull over when directed to by the police." I quickly put him in his place:rtfm:, and he decides to give me the "Thousand yard stare", so I stare straight back, and start smirking. He asks what I'm smirking about, and I tell him I've thought of a nice way to waste a bucket of petrol. (I don't really care, you may have noticed). He drops the thousand yard stare:scared:.

Anyhow, to cut a long story short....I've got a ticket (covered in boogers, and scrunched up in my seat bag - I don't think they cared for that much either- need to HTFU if you ask me), and I'll be off to court or the first ever ticket fighting adventure. Always just paid them and got on with it, but not this drivel.

Dip sh**s tried to tell me they ride too. Whatever:rolleyes:. The staring dude tried telling me his partner's bike was bigger....so he got himself a "Who cares? I didn't stop here to compare *****es." If you want to compare bikes, I'll see you at Mallala....chuckle chuckle:rolleyes:.

They even tell me they heard me "Roaring" through the lights....I was in first gear, but it's still a stock exhaust system.

They asked me at one point if I have a problem with the police. I tell them flat out, that traffic cops are wasting tax payers money with pointless BS like this.....and worse still a cop near took me out in the city the other night, as I went around his 30km/h under the limit dawdling @$$, but before I overtook I lined up myself with his mirror, and left my indicator flash 6 times before I went...sure enough the retard moved over on me without turning his head:Flip:.

I hate that holier than thou attitude.

Cop : "I'm just trying to do my job".

Me : "Tonight this is part of your job. If you don't like it, get another job. Don't blame me for your troubles." Mumble to self "way over paid anyhow".

People probably think I'm a little hard on them, but stop pulling people over for pointless BS like that...what a screaming joke. If everyone went off like that, eventually they'd go back to doing the right thing.

After all......I didn't break the law, and have a ticket...WTF? POS with a badge:Flip:

I think that might have been one of my better rants:thumbup:

I still dont know what the ticket was for! What's the "offence", and how much, may i ask???

:(

Offense is going through a yellow light. They want 310 bucks for it. When I told them I'll have to stop for every amber now, even if it causes a prang they got all upset. Can't stop. Can't go through. There is just no pleasing some drongos.

Funny how they all have different views of the laws from state to state , just so happens i went through an orange light on the way home from work this evening probably 10-15 metres from the line so no choice really BUT......... as I lean into the corner I happen to clance in the mirror & notice a police car follow me through the intersection :shakehead:........ Now he had ample time to stop , that I am sure of :spank:

Must of been in a hurry to get to Macca's

Kind of ironic really, I mean stopping suddenly at a set of lights is going to be most dangerous for a bike on an orange for about 100 reasons, and they want to pick on us for that?
I mean apart from the likelihood of being rear ended, losing traction on all the built up crap, or being forced to constantly second guess every single decision.... what the f do these clowns think they are doing to help the community?

And they heard you 'roar' past with a STOCK exhaust WTF?????? Drugged up loons, they must have just busted some dealers and decided to enjoy the evidence. A fizzer with stock exhaust sounds like a bumblebee.

If you didn't have to greatly accelerate to make the light then whats the damn issue.......

Really makes you sick the crap they pull. We pay for their wages and they waste time with traffic infringements while people are fighting in pubs, assaults are happening on the streets and people are raped and murdered all the time. Good to see their priorities are set right.

I got booked by a parking ranger the other day for parking partially over my own driveway because the rain collapsed the carport and we couldn't park inside... friggen douchebags. It sounds harsh but seriously give them a new job, lightning strike attractors or something? Practice dummies in school zones for all those parents who like to speed once they have their little precious in the car.
People totally block both our driveways during school times every day and these clowns never give them a ticket.

I also heard an interesting incident recently, about someone in an accident calling an ambulance for the person who hit them and was claiming back/neck pain, but when the ambulance arrived said they didn't need it. The person who tried to do the right thing is being charged for the ambulance (they did use it in the end too)!!!
Does that mean you tell the other party to buy themselves a ****ing mobile phone when they are lying dieing on the street in need of an ambulance? (Just incase they are actually ok)

Still can't believe there are folks out there without ambulance cover....it's so freaking cheap ($65 -ish?), and will save you an $700 bill (last I heard...probably more now). This is for even non emergency type ambulance transportation. The emergency only cover is only $26 -ish. Oz wide.

Depends on lifestyle I guess but In a high risk activity like riding a bike, I'd say it's a must.

Up here in QLD you actually pay an ambulance levy on your power bill , everybody pays & nobody notices  Free ambo cover Aussie wide :D

They have ambulance cover actually, but you can't claim it when you call the ambulance for someone else!

In that case you hit the nail on the head.....let the victims call their own ambulance:eek:. I don't reckon the ambo's would really wanna push this one too far...it'll set a scarey kind of precedent. No one will ever call an amulance for someone else, and folks will die:(.

Exactly, after hearing the story I would be pretty reticent to call an ambulance for anything except a major accident for anyone else, purely because I am already broke just paying for my own stuff, particularly since the loser who backed over me is still refusing to give their own insurance details to my insurance company, or even answer any of their calls.

If I end up paying the excess I'm going to have to take them to local court. At which point i'll be trying to recover all the damage the insurance company has refused to repair AS WELL. Honestly people who do this kind of stuff should have their licenses suspended. If you are not responsible enough to ... well take responsibility then you don't deserve to be driving.
If anything like this happens again I'll definately be calling the cops to the accident, injured or not.

They're still pulling this crap?

Mate, I am truly sorry to hear that. All you tried to do all the way through was the right thing, and now you get stiffed. This is why people are reluctant to do the right thing anymore.

And of course the police are powerless? Or too busy perhaps, giving tickets to folks for going through a yellow traffic signal?

Makes you sick doesn't it?:(

Yea exactly, ironically enough a police car was right there when the accident happened (and must have seen it), but did they stop and maybe talk to the irresponsible driver? Did they pull over and come make sure everything was ok?
No they drove straight by. I mean the person who hit me was lucky it wasn't kids walking behind the car as she blindly reversed back....

Totally negligent driving, and guess what the police really don't give a crap. They don't care about all the idiots who don't deserve a license because they are too busy targeting minority groups like motorcycle riders.

They probably saw someone J-walking further down the road and felt the need to arrest them and do a cavity search or something.

I just hope that ticket gets laughed out of court Ozzie, because while the police scream poormouth and say they can't get enough officers on the street the ones that are out there are just wasting tax payers money.

I'll be the party pooper guys :(

Facts are facts. I have a piece of paper here with, "Failed to stop at a yellow traffic signal" written on it. This is not illegal. It will cost me $300 odd dollars to pay it and I will lose points. It will cost me the loss of a day's pay, and any other court costs to go fight it. This is not slander. This is not police bashing. These are facts. To take money off of me for no wrong doing, no matter which way I go is (as far as I am concerned) theft. Theft by an organisation like this is (as far as I am concerned) organised crime.

Next fact...the police illegally flashed the headlights at me, just as I was checking my mirrors prior to turning into a side street, so that I was blinded, and my rear tyre hit a man hole cover and slid so I went round the corner through a concrete spoon drain crossed up. If I wasn't so at home on my bike I would have crashed. It was a near thing as it was.

I can't say from first hand knowledge, but it sounds to me like the police are not helping Kris out either. If this is true, then where is the police bashing?

My excess is $1000 (I'm 24 and under 25's pay double), but they are refusing to cover the topbox and the pazzo lever (the most important part!) which makes the whole thing a joke since I could have fixed it myself for less than $1000 if all I needed was a bloody new front guard, I would have left the other scratched stuff, but seeing as how the other person was at fault and I had witnesses, I figured I'd just do as the other person said and go through insurance.

As it stands the repairs should have been about 1100-1200 with the pazzo lever, from the cheapest quote (not incl. topbox) without the pazzo..........
If the insurance company fails to recover the damage though I lose my excess, and its not even a proper job to fix it.
I'm adding all my mods onto the insurance now but seeing as how I wasn't at fault the only reason it is not being fixed properly is because the other person isn't providing insurance details. (just flat out refusing to answer the insurance company at all).

If I lose my excess I don't care if the net result of me taking them to court is a loss, because I'm not letting these people get away with this.

I'll leave the police issue alone though.

Anyway I have to call the insurance company tomorrow and get the boot into them to see if they have made progress.
I expected better from QBE....
