Is my valve stem suppose to leak?

I just happen to have them handy and snapped a photo of the valves and tool. The tool in the center is one I made years ago with scrap metal and a dremel.

It's probably cracked right where it comes through the casting on the wheel.
It happens a lot when people get rushed and don't install them properly. There's a tool to pull them through the hole and seat them....

These are the type I'm going to get.....

ah.. ok it makes sense why they want that much to replace it. I'd have it replaced asap, but that's just me and more so if were the front tire.

Yes, just got back from Cycle Gear and bought the very same one pictured and. A tool to install the new one just in case somebody is up to the task tomorrow. They said that you have to remove part of the tire to install the new one, it only goes in one way.
