Ahh, the thread that just won't die.
I look at it this way, if you want to mod the motor or replace it with an R6, do it! It would be a fun project. Half the fun of the project if figuring out how to make it all work.
Personally I like the way that Wolfman is going with the big bore kit. I think that along with a set of cams will be a great combination. No replacement for displacement, right?
On the other hand you could buy an R6 and put in a set of Convertibars and get a better saddle. With that option you get the motor and a much better suspension. It all depends on what you like.
Do what makes you happy. Blown Busa???
I agree. Yes, simply buying an R6 would be the easiest and possibly cheapest option. But where is the fun in that? What if besides the riding position, you found the half-faired FZ6 better looking? I have a friend that has a CBR and he rides with the lower fairings removed, the FZ is much better looking. You could probably do the same with the R6 (haven't actually checked) but just like the CBR, it wasn't designed like that so there would be bolt holes, non-stainless headers, etc. I too like what Wolfman is doing. Personally I find working on the bike and having fun projects with it just as much fun as actually riding it
