Ok, forgot to post.

Mike got his bike back and all seems good now.

Sounds like they hadn't put the rocker cover on properly, over-tightened it and pinched it. :spank:

Thank god it happened in Perth, and not half way from Adelaide to the island :eek:

Dodgy stuff...this is what happens in bigger workshops, mechanics working on about 4 bikes at once, order of priority changing constantly at workshop managers whim...

Take it to the trusty old bugger plugging away by himself in his own peaceful domain....that's what I will be doing from now on...only problem is that old bugger is getting harder to find these days, as
"stealerships" slowly push these types of shops out of business.
 
I went to Birmingham Al. last week end
Had to get out of the house at least once before the next snow.:eek:
I went to one of the big bike stores and it was gone empty.:confused:
Tight money must have got it,
Then on the way home found a small cycle repair shop, one of the young guys at the Kawasaki place said he was looking for a place, hope it works out.:thumbup:
 
The dealerships charge about $70-80 an hour for workshop repairs/service.They do this to cover all there overheads,so you are much better off finding a repairer that is not a dealer or invest those savings into tools & learn how to do it yourself :thumbup:
 
I work with someone who has something to prove, constantly. Strange thing is that they prove their worth in negativity.

I have the right mind to choke the living **** outta this person, but the intellect to let them find the door.

Ignorance is bliss? I don't know.

I don't think there are any Yamaha dealers left in Perth that Mike hasn't shouted at :rof:
 
Argh, I have just paid $195.25 for my local Suzuki dealer to look at my car.
Is that reasonable?
But the thing is, they have done nothing but to check for problems.
I had a list of problems that I wanted fixed wasn't done at all.
Should I bring it back and argue with them?
I have to say, I already hate cages after a few days I've got it.
Not to mention the ridiculous fuel price these days.

Thats a ripoff unless there was a huge amount of disassembly work required to do the checking.
Generally speaking unless you are paying just for the checks then they should be free.
If you gave them a list of things to do, and they didn't do them then thats an issue.

I don't know what arrangement you had with them, but normally I would take the vehicle in and tell them my issues and get them to look over it. Either they agree there are issues or they don't. If they agree ask for a full repair quote for the stuff you want done, and tell them to ring you if the price changes. If they disagree, maybe because they say stuff is normal, or they can't be sure, then you need to be cautious.

Almost 200$ is about 3 hours work though, which for checks.....
 
My rant starts at about the start of December! Cause since then my luck has sucked hardcore!
1. Drunken pedestrian walks in front of my bike...result, $2000 worth of repairs and new helmet! With no way of getting compensation from pedestrian without a long drawn out case in civil court!

2.car accident involving my car and 2 other cars...result, some stupid bitch is trying to sue me for $4500 damages to a car that is worth about $3000! That is going to be fun to fight!

3. My radiator on pinky dies on the way to PI, cost so far, $170, and it still ain't sorted.

4. Front sprocket nut parts company with bike, in the middle of nowhere in Tassie! By the time I pay for a tow and repairs, it ends up costing me $550!

5. Sidi boot zip craps itself! Boot then stretches after wearing 3 pairs of socks on a wet day...result, need new boots! Will cost me' about $400 minimum!

6. Package to Humpy disappears off the face of the earth! FU Australia post! You are $hit!

7. Get home from Tassie, and on Wednesday, some stupid woman drives into the side of my missus's car...result, an insurance claim, and days without the invaluable second car in our household.

8. Another car accident, again, not my fault...result, another insurance claim.

9. Jess's phone falls off bed, result, $250 repair bill!

10. Get home after accident today to find my PC is dead! Blue screen fatal system error! Result, complete re-format of Pc, and at least a week without my most important tool to run my business, and a big fat repair bill!

11. Wrist injury from when dickhead drunk walks in front of me, won't get better, and it looks like I am up for surgery!

So that's 4 accidents, a pc meltdown, 2 cars that need repair, a bike that has been repaired, another which is still in the process of being repaired!

My patience, and sanity is being very heavily tested!

Wah! Wah! Wah! FML!

Anyone know a good pc tech that can fix my pc before the end of next week, when it seems is the earliest anyone can look at my pc!

Cause till that sucker is fixed, the day to day running of my business is seriously hampered!

Now, ignore my whinging, I just needed to blurt!!!!

Whats up with your computer?
If you get a new harddrive (65$ for a 500g) and install windows on it, you should be able to load the computer up from that and see if you can recover anything off the hard drive with issues.
But a blue screen is hardware issue normally, might be your ram dieing or even your motherboard.

But jesus man you are NOT having a good time!

PC is now fixed...we managed to change the boot preferences to boot from the DVD drive, and boot from the windows disk, and then perform a repair of windows...then we ran malwarebytes, and thus other program called hit & run...looks like the person who was looking after our house whilst we were in Tassie was enjoying a bit of porn, and as happens, they managed to infect the computer with a virus or 3.

Thanks to jess's friend, Dave, we are operational again now!

Im sure the said person was just trying to download all the porn to make the interweb safe for the kids to use :rolleyes:

Unless it was an adolescent child & curiosity got the better of them............:eek: ;)
 
Ok, after riding near on 4000kms with my brand new Z8s (they were brand new on 16th Feb this year......) we took the bikes off the trailer in Bridgetown,WA so we could ride the beautiful winding road - the Nannup/Balingup loop. Had a great 2 hour ride. Perfect way to end what was a 10000km trip for us.

Unloaded the bikes when we got back to Perth - my rear tyre was flat :(

Have to buy another one - hole dead centre. Will recommend Z8s though. We rode in some VERY trying conditions on the trip - stuck to the road like glue - in rain, hail and shine.

Lucky though. Could have had the puncture in the middle of the Tasmanian wilderness :eek:

How much tread left on them Kazza?? That hole repair kit that Mikey has looks brilliant.

As for my rant, there's too many expletives in it, so I better not. Enough to say, I may be just a dumb Leading Hand at work, but I've been running the line for years and I think I know enough to know how to fix the damn thing when it breaks....
*&$%##@^& Maintenance, you may have done trade school for 4 years, but get your F*&$%^* hands dirty and fix it... I better stop, getting that feeling of punching someone .... AGAIN.
Time for a beer and some "alone" time

Loads of tread left. You wouldn't know I'd done the Adelaide/Tasmania return trip on them.

Mike used a repair kit - hole too big :(

It's the plugs. Have you got a link or any info for the string ones? I won't be riding this weekend, so might try to get these before spending $$$$ on a new rear.
