Average speed cameras on the Cat and Fddle

For those of you who dont know, it's the A537 road from Buxton to Macclesfield in the peak district.There's also a Pub of the same name.It's been quite a few years since i rode on it, but it's a ride that always leaves a smile on your face.Like all good things in the uk sooner or later its spoilt by bloody gatso.

The short cut is the lane just past the Cat & Fiddle on the left when leaving the carpark. The MCN Reporter did a timed check and if he stayed within speed limit of this road he could effectively get caught for speeding when he gets to the next camera on the main road because this road has a 60mph limit and is more of a faster flowing road.
There is a large parking bay just before the camera, so you can sit and wait a bit if you think you have gone too quickly:thumbup:

An absolute waste of tax payers money !! IMO

Went for a ride up the Cat & Fiddle myself today noticed the road which cuts off as also been reduced to a 50mph speed limit. So which ever way you decide to go the cameras will catch you, if you go over the 50. Personally I rode just under the 50 and found it to be OK any faster then I think I would have struggled with some of the bends which can be quite dangerous as I did have to slow down a lot when approaching . Just wondering if anyone else been up there lately and if so how did you find the roads.

i went up there the other day, i'm pretty new to riding and just getting used to my bike, so the speed limit was fine. A few straight sections that you could speed, but then some of the corners i took quite slowly which balanced it out

I'm sure the money could have been better spent to make the road safer. If you tried to do a constant 50 down there it could still be unsafe

Not been since April, but i might go next week. Booked some time off work. Made me a bit light headed last time. I had to stop at the Cat and Fiddle for a drink

i was worried when i went over xmas, as i wasn't keeping an eye on my speed for one of the sections due to fog and a bit of snow around

still there's plenty of other nice roads nearby
