I want to get an aftermarket exhaust, two brothers probably. I saw statistics and I know it's louder. I wonder how much louder it is compare to the stock one. I don't want to wake up my neighbors when I start the bike in the morning nor when I come home at night:Sport:

It depends on what kind of tips you put on. As the pipes come, they're LOUD. The pipes with no tips will wake up your neighbors! I knew when I took them out of the box and could see straight through the pipes they were going to be loud.

There are two kinds of silencers you can put on: the P1 tip reduces the sound 3 to 4 dB per tip. The P1X tips reduce the sound by 7 to 8 dB per tip. That's what I have on, and like the sound. It's louder than stock, and has a great tone, but isn't obnoxious.

I had the same concerns with my Leo Vinces. I left the db-reducing "silencers" in (the exhaust shipped with them already installed).

It's definitely louder than stock, at idle, redline, and all points in between. The idle is loud enough that I now try to point the exhaust away from the building when I start it up really early. It's not obnoxious but it's not quiet either.

When I get home, I try to just idle into the driveway, get some momentum, and put it in Neutral and turn off the motor, then glide into my parking spot as much as possible, if it's late when I get home (a rarity as I try to not ride at night).

I have both Leo Vince on one of my FZ6's, and 2 brothers on the other...the Leo's are so much quieter than the Two Brothers...

The two Brothers your nieghbours will hate you for, unless you put the P1X silencers in....the Leo's...they are tame in comparison!

But vthe 2 Bro's sound like evil when let loose! without decent silencing!!!

I like the tone of the Two Brothers although there are many great sounding aftermarket exhaust. When you hear the difference you will be very surprised.

The db killers are not cheap and will be an additional $60+
Over the years I've used Two Bros. exclusively on 3 different bikes and I keep the db killers so I'm not putting out the extra when I buy a new exhaust.
The original P1 tip made very little difference so when I purchase exhaust for the second bike I purchased the P1X tip. The P1X made a big difference. You can see the part that goes into the can is actually a smaller diameter but the part facing you is a larger diameter. I imagine they did this for the look.

I recently went on a ride with smokenu and Motogiro. Both have TB exhausts. somkenu does not had any db killers of any sort and his pipes are loud as fook. When both of them were in front of me, the noise was insane, but pretty damn cool!

TB's are hands down the loudest I've heard. Remus comes in second, as Vegasrider's bike demonstrated on the last ride we went on. I have Scorps and they scream when you hit 7 K rpm.

Two Bros is the loudest aftermarket muffler for the FZ6, hell Two Bros even makes my cousin's Ninja 250R sound like a demon, I don't have a muffler any more, but my neighbor's don't care cause they all ride Harley's and choppers.:BLAA:

I have the Two Bros exhaust. They are ridiculously loud. Without the inserts, there's almost nothing but bass. And I mean annoying bass. Like a 5.0 Mustang with Flowmasters annoying. Just a loud, hollow bass drone. At idle, and just above, I could hardly stand to ride the thing. With the inserts, they sounded PERFECT, only still too loud. All the inserts do is castrate the low RPM bass, and quiet them down a bit. Still too loud for my taste, but that's just me. And yes, you will wake up the whole damn neighborhood with the TB's and no inserts. With them, you can go slow and short shift, keep the RPM's down, and probably only wake up every other home. lol

Loud. That's all you need to know.

You can buy silencer tips(which restrict flow therefore restrict sound) or do like some people on the forum did and make your own out of sheets of steel.
I bought the simple silencers from TBR and they quiet it a little bit, mostly at lower RPM's.

Loudness is one aspect and tone is another.

exactly!!
I want it to sound good, not loud/too loud so it doesn't get annoying on a longer trip. beside I don't want to wear a hearing aid when I turn 40

I wasn't gonna buy 2bros without the tips, I just think it still might be too loud.

My take. I had 2bro with and without db killers.

Even with db killers your neighbors will hear you. How you ride it in and out of your neighborhood is what makes them like or hate you.

I ride with ear plugs they get to be too much noise after 150 miles.

As much as you want a better exhaust note 2bros is loud for the FZ6.

With the tips you keep the great tone, but reduce the noise considerably compared to no tips. My 2bros with the P1X tips are the perfect combination for me. I don't worry about starting my bike up in the morning.

Chemiker's exhausts are, without a doubt, the best sounding exhausts I have ever heard on an FZ6.

Edit: I should have added that Chemiker's TB's are not loud at all. And I've heard some pretty loud pipes on FZ6's...are you listening Vegasrider? :spank:

+1 Even with the tips in they get to me as well. It gets annoying real quick. I still love their sound, just too loud.

It's one thing to hear a sweet exhaust on a moto as it goes by, it's a whole other thing to be riding the moto that has that exhaust.

This can't be an accurate example except it will give you an idea of the tone, given you have decent speakers and still the sound on the recording wasn't that great to begin with. TB's are loud and these are with the original P1 db killers installed. P1's give you maybe 2 db cut. The P1X (7-8 db cut) inserts will be much quieter.

Easing the throttle will keep it quieter but there are those who constantly push it in the neighborhoods because their mission is to prove something.

Huh? I can't hear what you're saying!

If anyone is sooo concerned about how loud they will be, then why bother, save your money and stick with the stock exhaust.

I set off the car alarms whenever I ride in a parking lot.
