Dash wiring

Does your FZ6N dash wiring look like this?

The reason I am asking is the wiring gets in the way of the ignition.

I'll be in the garage tomorrow so if I remember I'll take some.

You could look at the wiring layouts in the Yamaha service manual. They'll probably show it. This is all I have right now.

The naked is different, clutch cable goes down through clocks bracket on right hand side of the ignition. The route means that the clutch cable has to be pushed out of the way as you insert/remove the key.

Your clutch cable looks right, don't think the electrical cables should be tied to the clutch cable, been trying to find a picture but not managed yet.

Mine was just the clutch cable in the way - naked bike - Mike re-routed it - well worth it.

Yours doesn't look right with the other cables there though. Hopefully someone can help you move those - that looks like a pain.

that's my top speed memory cable from my speedo healer attached to the clutch cable. press the button and it displays your last top speed on the dash. and yeah your right naked' s are different haha

Any chance of a picture or two of the route he moved the cable to?

The other two cables are from heated grip control & headed grip which have been poorly routed making the ignition area worse than it should be I will look at moving them this weekend if I can brave the cold.

It looks as though someones moved the cable/wiring from the stock location...

I am pretty sure there is no way to route the clutch cable like that on the S2 naked

I'm not postive on the naked bike however the clutch cable set up, (lever location/engine hook up location), would be the same in both style bikes having the same engine/clutch set up/mount. Having the clutch cable cross immediatly over to the right side of the bike and down, it would have to make a sharp bend at the bottom to attach to the engine.

This would not be the best routing and seriously doubt Yamaha routed the clutch cable AND wires across the ignition switch on purpose.

I would personally, raise the tank and move the clutch cable and wires into a better postion...

Unless the manul shows differently, I'd definitly be moving that cable.

agreed, nothing should go over the ignition. all left side cables/wires get routed to the left of the ignition. ive never seen a bike (stock condition) that has any other set up.

Shows that you haven't seen much then. S2 naked (and probably the faired version) come stock with the clutch cable crossing the ignition.

I've been riding Yamaha's (and others) for 37 years as well as wrenching on them...

I too, apparently haven't seen much as I've NEVER seen a clutch cable, from Yamaha (or any other manufacturer) purposely place a clutch cable across the ignition.. It's flat out not safe.

It is VERY POSSIBLE, that the dealer, at the time of set up had a newbie, run the cable across there....

No, the S2N has the clutch cable across the ignition as stock. See my earlier pic. Maybe the early model too. It gets mentioned in many road tests.
