Whats up guys, I've been following the forum for a few months since I became a happy FZ6-N owner, and had the chance to learn a lot about my new bike.. now my time has come and its time for my first post, and tricky question
Few months ago I laid down my FZ6 just to see if the slider would protect the frame and engine cover if needed.. What a terrific idea. Ok, it was doing its job. Bike up again, turned on the key, and before push start but after the startup diagnosis a flashing oil light/led came up.. 10x flash, pause, more 10x flash.. cycling.
Checking the service guide and the Haynes manual, It indicates low engine oil level. As the oil level is good, it must be a failed or fault sensor, or maybe a loose connector... I could locate the parts and connectors involved with the flashing oil light, its a sensor in the bottom of the engine, and its connecting wire runs all the way up to under the fuel tank, where it is reconnected and routed to the central wiring. Ok, checked the connections, shook the wire thats under the engine a little bit, and after a new key start, the light was gone.
As said that was a few months ago, and after that same thing happened a couple of times.. after checking if the oil level was good, and starting the bike for a few moments, or just maneuver it in the garage solves the problem.. as the wires are well connected, I believe I have a fault sensor. I do remember that the engine was hot the day I laid down the bike.. maybe the absence of oil on it damaged the sensor. As it is a little pricey, I found a replacement from a 2005 FZ6.. mine is 2009.
That explained, could anybody confirm if that 2005 sensor would fit and work properly in my 2009 FZ6? Here in my country there's was no FZ6 in 2005, so they couldn't confirm that in authorized dealer... I'm trying to cross reference the part number, actually I'm starting to look for that right now, I'll update the thread as the search goes.. but maybe some of you have access to this information and could confirm more quickly then I.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks !!
Thiago.
