I searched but did not see any comments on how loud it is on long trips. Is it loud at constant speeds say on the interstate on long trips or is it fine unless your wide open throttle?

Scorpion exhaust on 2007, is it annoyingly loud or just right?

Nah I dont think there that loud even on long trips, Im sure someone on here has them.

I have them on my 07 and don't think they are that bad. The longest trip I have taken with them is about 3 hours on the highway and I really didn't notice them. I will say it took me a few days to get used to the sound over the stock setup.
they are not that bad. the wind will still be the thing that makes your ears buzz not the exhaust at highway speeds.
if you dont ride with earplugs or noise-cancelling headphones your hearing is suffering anyway due to the wind. over 2 hours exposure over a 24 hour period is more than your ears can handle and will result in hearing damage....the wind that is...not the exhaust.
locally if you want it to scream just dont shift up till you red line....the scorpions sound so sweet. but they are not annoyingly loud. but they are on the louder side of the spectrum...just not too loud. if you want to hush them a tiny bit you can always put db killers in, but you dont need to.

Thanks for the info I appreciate it. I may be picking up a 2007 fz6 on saturday and it has a scorpion exhaust. i was just wanting to know what to expect on the 4 hour ride home lol.
They are loud, but wonderfully so. 
I have them on my 08. At about 7K RPM they really sound mean.

I've had mine on since Sunday and I'm not sure how I'd go back to stock now :rockon:

like you, the scorps where on the bike when i got it and the first time i heard a stock bike i was soooo glad they where there.. i never thought they where too much.. i have a tor pipe on my tiger, and i am just as loud or louder than the scorps and i did and iron butt on mine, and like stated the wind is more bothersome on a long trip than the pipes.

I did 5 hours on it and, for me, it was just a little too loud. I usually adore the noise, but on the return journey, put in some ear-plugs - no probs.
yeah without ANY hearing protection at all it can be a bit much at below highway speeds where the wind isnt so noisy yet. after hour or two of city riding without hearing protection you will get a headache.
but it is stupid not to wear hearing protection......even with a stock and silent exhaust.

I have them on my 08. I personally love the nice low tone. they will scream if you want them to. To be honest I don't really notice them at highway speeds. I also use a modular helmet which is noisier then a regular full face, plus I have the scala rider Q2 head set and listen to the radio :thumbup: I would be surprised if they bother you. Enjoy!

Quite honestly, the lusty bellow of the Scorps was great at first, but just became a bit annoying after one season of riding with them, especially in town.
I installed the OEM db killers in them last year and although it does take the edge off the roar, they still sound great.
The difference is that they are much more "muted" at smaller throttle openings and lower rpm's. When I crack the throttle wide open and let the motor rev up to max, they still sound glorious.

something to think about here.... The old style scorps sound different than the new style, but either type will quiet down in highway gears. I was very anal about what the different exhausts sounded like on the bike. I ended up with the new style scorps. They sound more like two bro's, loud low growl. The older style are very raspy and have higher tones to them. A tone to be aware of in my opinion. Wearing plugs is a must on the highway whatever you choose. The wind noise will make you go deaf.

Here are the bikes I am looking at:
2008 cobalt blue, stock with soft tail bags, tank bag, helmet, jacket for $3800
and
2007 blue with scorpion exhaust $3400 (he ran over a nail so it has a new tire on it, i will assume it is a cheapo generic tire)
Both have under 2000 miles on them! They are both around 4 hours from my house, i am having trouble deciding which one is the better buy. What do you guys think?
Also, i will be doing a lot of 2up with the gf. She weighs around 100lbs and I weigh 160lbs. Should the bike handle that fine or would you suggest i save up and get a fz1 or a bandit 1250s? of course the insurance will jump up with those 2 as well. i just sold a 1996 suzuki katana 600 because i was bored with it, the bike did not have quite enough pickup on the top end for me. it did fine though 2up . i would assume the fz6 will have equal or a little more torque since the heavy katana did fine with the 2 of us.

Go for the 2008. It's newer and for only $400 more.

How would you guys compare the Scorpions to other exhaust brands as far as loudness? I want something that sounds nice and is fairly loud, but not obnoxious or annoying.

Loud but not obnoxious. They are head turners but I don't think they are TOO loud. On long trips, I have music playing (SENA SMH10) so now the noise is ok.
Each to their own. I personally don't like the sound of 2Bros, but then some people don't like the sound of mine (crazy, I know
).
