Why do we mod our bikes?

I have had quite a few bikes, and some of them, i have just ridden them, and not done a thing to them, others, i have fell in love with, and decided to make them more to my liking...
With the black FZ6...well, that started as a result of me breaking up with the mother of my second child, while i was engaged to be married to her...it hit me hard, and i ran off and escaped into "motorbike land!!!", and used the building of the bike as something to keep my mind off the horrible feelings of loss i had during that time...
I am now well past that stage in my life, but i have continued to mod that bike like crazy...i think now, because i have this "vision" in my head, of what the bike can be, and have thrown any sense of common sense out the window, and have just kept pushing on with the build till i get everything on that bike, how i want it...but the more i spend, the less i wanna ride it...
But in a nutshell, improvement was the main motivation behind the mods i did to start with...Brakes, Engine, Suspension, ergonomics, weight reduction. Then i decided that the thing needed to look as good as it went!
That's when things got crazy! Money Wise! And i have a feeling it's not quite over yet...not by a long shot!
Ohwell, when it is done, it will be a bike i will keep for a very long time...will be interesting to see how well it "ages" as a "special".
There ya go...the confessions of a mod addict!
