Ceramic Coated Headers...pictures & stat's!

Ok, a couple of weeks ago i took the Header pipes off "Pinky", and they were looking a bit secondhand...

So, after a very brief and disheartening attempt at polishing them myself....someone suggested that i get the Headers ceramic coated...

Apparently it enhances performance via heat retention...

As you can see, they are quoting figures that provide as much as a 10% power gain!!! Hmmmm!

Plus i reckon it looks pretty decent. It also deflects water, and road grime, better than Stainless steel, or chrome....making it easier to keep clean, as generally, ceramic coated pipes just need a good wipe to clean..

But they do "dull" over time, depending on the heat put out by the engine they are hanging off!

It only cost $150....but they did not do the inside of the pipes, because it would of clogged up the "Cat's" inside.

About 2 working days....very easy guys to deal with as well...

Thats what im talking ABOUT !!!!!! :thumbup: , they look awesome mate and for that price it has to be one of the cheapest power mods going .... Would be curious to see a before and after Dyno sheet on those claims of 10% increase , that would take the XJR into warp speed

Was looking at getting it done to my XS400 when I built that but ended up doing something else. Was gonna dump my extractor wrap off my VK at the time too...less weight and better effect. Never did get round to it.

Keeps the heat in the combustion chamber the same as extractor wrap, but with the inside not done you won't see the full effect.

It's a sweet finish though isn't it?

Heaps cheaper than getting new ones.

Lol...am actually looking for something that is easy to keep clean, more than anything! If I get a 1hp gain...that's a bonus!

As a bloke who is about to open a bike detailing business, I sorta need to have a pretty clean bike...and I would rather sit and drink beer...than clean my headers all day long!

Wolfman hi,

After seeing your headers I've looked into gettting the same done over here in the UK. Problem is, the only place I can find that does a chrome style finish called Cermakrome claim it can only be applied to new headers...

Do you know what, if any, prep stages your headers went through before coating, e.g- bead blasting or something?...

If I can't find somewhere else I'm going to be restricted to a black finish I think. There are colours available but none look that great! Maybe someone in the UK knows of somewhere?
