What is difference btwn 06 and 07 fuel tank

Looking to get the Targa 1/2 tank cover for my 2006 FZ6 but the only one listed is is for 2007 model year.

So.. does anyone know if there are appreciable differences in the front half of the tank that would cause this cover to not fit the 2006?

I checked the Yamaha parts #'s for both tanks and indeed they are different.
Just wondering if there is any real difference in the shape of both tanks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know, the tanks are identical. What's different is the fairing design, which might matter if the cover needs to attach to the fairing brackets in the front.

That's all I can think of.

NOTHING! All FZ6 (non -R) fuel tanks are the same mechanically and physically. Only difference are colors.

If they are the same, why different part numbers?

Maybe they come pre painted ? So each color has a part number, check the blue in 2006 and 2007, if they are the same thats the ticket ?

even though 2006 and 2007 had the same colors, they named the colors differently. hence, different part numbers.

all yamaha oem bodywork (tanks, fenders, fairing etc) comes painted.

A new fuel tank comes pre-painted without the fuel filler cap or fuel pump installed.
