HavBlue, I agree with your comments about humans not being able to change the weather. Global warming, may or may not be true, but regardless I laugh to think that we are powerful enough to be causing it.
I live in Florida and have heard nothing but "more big storms coming this year" ever since 2004. So far nothing. Last year, two 'storms' were actually tropical depressions. Funny how they decided to call them storms. Maybe to add to the count of official storms, thus making it seem like more? Next thing you know, an official storm will be defined as 5 knot winds or greater.
Anyone else aware of the fact that global warming is also occurring on other planets as well? (Mars and Venus for starters I believe) Does that mean we are causing this on those planets? The Sun has also been projecting an extreme increase in radioactive particles since the turn of the last century. Coincidence.
Anyone else aware that freeze/thaw patterns are part of Mother Nature and have been happening for thousands of years? Here's how it works: CO2 building within our atmosphere causes increase in temperature. As the temps rise, ice melts. Water in liquid form absorbs CO2. The more ice melted means more liquid water. The more liquid water means more CO2 gets absorbed. The less C02, the less hot weather. Eventually CO2 is being absorbed so fast that temps begin to drop. The more CO2 absorbed, the lower the temps... freezing begins. Then we go back to solid (frozen) water. CO2 levels aren't being absorbed, temps rise... ~deja vu all over again~
I live like a Spartan. I don't have a huge TV and a bunch of stuff I don't use on a regular basis. I wear my clothes until they're turning into a rag, then they become my gym clothes. I grew up in a house that had a rainwater collecting tank that could run dry if we took too long showers (and my Dad wouldn't hesitate to give me a shout if I was in the shower too long). I was taught not to throw plastic in the sea and not to dump your old car oil in the ground.
I know how to conserve, I know how to preserve and I know how to smell a skunk a mile away. Global warming may be true but it's a natural phenomena. The skunks are coming out to get your money and their tool is creating fear that YOU are causing global warming. Give them your green to buy green products (which aren't cheap). Sell your bike and buy a bicycle. Actually, just give me your bike. I'd be happy to take care of that nasty fossil-fuel burning toy for you
