I went to uni today to give my 11.00am to 1.00pm lecture. The weather is hot so I love to ride my scoot and park in this alcove between the university admin building and my Faculty of Law school.
I normally park in a library motorcycle carpark that is undercover but as renovations are underway, us bikers have had to find alternative digs for our bikes.
I have used this alcover a few times and uni is quiet over summer as not all classes are offered over our summer semester. When I pulled up behind a BMW1200 that was parked in this alcove, I noticed an Asian girl about 20 walking with here male friend and she appeared upset and was crying while holding her mobile phone to her ear.
As I was wearing a bandana and leather jacket, vest, gloves etc, it takes me 5 minutes to leave my bike. I noticed this little procession and really thought nothing of it until I returned to my bike to find it behind police tape and 7 police cars in the vicinity!!!! After talking to a detective, photos were taken and I was allowed to take my bike. The cop pointed to some blood on the concrete near my bike and said there had been a small siege between an Asian couple with the male producing a knife.
Apparently there was a lockdown of the area for 20 minutes until capsicum spray could be used on this villain. Unbeknown to me, I was lecturing in the next building!!!
Fortunately bike was unharmed.

I actually carry a small Dundee blade in my Fazer survival kit but have never in my wildest dreams thought it would be needed in defense. I was 5 minutes early from needing it. I say, those capsicum sprays work well. I believe the police tactical response boys used a type of foam as well.
All hell will break loose tomorrow as university security staff ran the other way and locked themselves in their bunker I heard. Bloody rent-a-cops!!!

I am outraged that a young Asian student would find a need to carry a blade on my campus! Different story ofcourse for me and my 'Old Timer'.

If I was a cop I would have told you we needed the bike for evidence and would return it after a few hours of cruising along the shores of your beautiful country.

WOW !!! what an ordeal , at least the girl was not seriously injured and the dude will hopefully be dealt with accordingly :spank:....... On the other hand , it has added fame to your ride so i guess it could add a few thousand to its value

The poor staff are undergoing counselling for trauma and the girl has superficial cuts to her hand and neck.
You are right, I just wanted to get my fizzer outa there. It was on the national news here on tv last night.
Reminds me of when someone had their helmet stolen off there bike and security cameras didn't alert security staff to the theft. Our uni security office was 40 metres away and the security dudes bunkered down, locked their doors and pulled the shades down!!! Iceholes!!!
Told everyone in admin via email to do the same.
Hats off to the cops although being in Victoria, I thought they would have used their cannons instead of the capsicum spray!!! Most carry Glocks down here.

Bit disgraceful about the security guards, if they can't deal with situations like that they shouldn't be being employed. Altho that being said alot of basic security courses are a one day thing.

Don't be too hard on the security guards!!
Here is a line from the newspaper article:
The two staff members, aged 37 and 56, suffered minor injuries to their forearm and received their own medical treatment.
I would not be too inclined to get myself stabbed, either!
