I hope you don't mind me asking but I noted your opinon on Yamalube. I just got my Fazer new back in September. At 588 miles I changed my own oil & filter and I put the Yamalube 10W40 back in. (Warranty and all that) I asked about synthetic and the local mechanic recommended me staying away from synthetic. I have ALWAYS used synthetics in every type of vehicle I have owned and I have never had one to start using oil, irregardless of mileage! I personally do not think synthetics can be beaten! I was concerned about the mechanic's remarks though and since my bike sits in a cold garage and I do plan to ride year 'round, (as I have for decades), I'm a little leery of 15W50. I would love to hear your opinions on Fazer oil if you care to share. Thanks![/QUOTE]

What I mentioned "Personal Opinion" meant that I don't want to this issue be discussed more.
But, I can tell you my FZ6 engine oil experiences.
As I'm in here Los Angeles; all year around with pretty warm temperatures, 15-50 would not be big problem for FZ6.
I tried couple of different brands; yes all synthetic/semi-synth, and the differnces between them and YamaLube is pretty noticeble for me.
Here are some of my opinions.
(* I'm not good at the technical terms...)
* YamaLube gives more smoothness >> for both throttle and gear/transmission
Facts >> less engine noise
Facts >> less engine vibration >> how do I know >>

* YamaLube seems little bit thinner than others but works well at high temp. environment.
Last summer time, I went to Death Valley; over 120 degrees, but it does cool the engine very well.
I didn't tested with other brands, so can't compare with here.
* After over 4000 miles, when I change oil I can see these
YamaLube still looks fresh but color went darker enough >> felt that more thinner than original >> need to be chaned
Other brands (2000 to 3000 miles) >> went to black color, more like dark chocolate color >> more thicker alot more thicker ?? don't know its OK, but personally don't like it.

With other brabds;
I felt 2000-3000 miles max with other brands, I could feel engine oil need to be changed when I throttle up.
I hear exaust sounds different when it gets those mileage.
With YamaLube;
I check my second trip-meter, which is my oil change meter; if I need to change oil......
These are just for me and for my FZ6.
Others might have different opinions.
