More Vegas Motorcycle Fatalities

Both crashes could have been avoided. One trying to out rush an ambulance with it's light and sirens on thru a busy intersection.

The other racing another bike doing a wheelie. Of course bad things are going to happen.

This brings the total to 18 fallen riders so far this year here in Vegas. That's almost two riders a month.

This past summer in SoCal was just as bad, seemed like every week there was at least one fatality. Almost all could have been avoided. The way I see it, you as a rider MUST be on the defensive side at ALL times. The term "accident" gets thrown around too much. IMHO there are very few real accidents, the rest are crashes. I hate hearing about riders dying, I really do.

Vegas, how many deaths in cage accidents in the same period? Just wondering the stats. Drivers are nuts in that town.

Any idea what the riding population is in your area? Any sort of demographics? (Do you see the 'bulge' of boomers?)

Seems both of these incidents were males in the lower end of 20-30.... how about the other 16 so far this year?

I dont know the answers to these questions. But as I recall on the riders, it's a broad spectrum as far as demographics and even the type of bikes, sport vs cruisers. What sucks is that whenever there is a rash of fatalities, the cops starts cracking down pulling over just about every bike for any type of viiolation, whether it's a simple mod or traffic violation. Don't really blame them, almost half of the riders out here don't have their M endorsements. I wouldn't be surprised if these two didn't have one either.
