Removing dual headlight mod

That would be an excellent spot Dennis! I could have sworn that I had put a barrel connector inline where all of the fairing devices plug in (under the left or clutch-side inner fairing). If so, there is no need to cut, just get another barrel connector and mate the two ends to the one I installed, extend two wires up to the switch you want to install and place spade ends on. Done!

Hm... Sounds like I need to do more digging on the left to find the barrel connector. I looked down in there and couldn't readily see it so I guess I'll have to remove some stuff to get there.

04fizzer, out of curiosity, how would you do this with a relay such that if I activated the heated jacket, the right light would turn off? I thought relays turned things on when something was powered. Is there a relay that turns things off when things are powered?

Sure can. It's called a normally closed relay. When it's not powered, the circuit is closed, and the light works. Turn the heated gear on (or flip the switch), power the relay, and the switch opens, turning off the light.

Hey Eric, thanks for the invite. I saved the switch work for a rainy day and guess what ? we got a rainy day -- so it's done. I just mounted a rocker-type switch (using double sided 3M tape) to the inside center of the fairing. I put a bunch of electrical tape to ensure things are well covered in case I ride in the wet.

BTW, you did put a barrel connector -- on the left behind the fairing where the connectors are. I couldn't get it off by hand -- probably crimped real good.

I'm still trying to figure if I can ride up your way tomorrow. We had a kid's soccer game canceled today and to be rescheduled so not sure what's going on tomorrow. But I think it's supposed to be nice tomorrow (high of 59F and sunny).

Nice! Well, our plans changed as well. Looks like the days reversed for us as we were supposed to go to King Richard's Faire today and bust knuckles tomorrow but due to the weather, I did all the work today and we're headed for Carver, MA tomorrow instead.

Glad you got it all hooked up! Surprised that the berrel did not come undone as it isn't crimped where it would snap together.
