I would suggest getting a hot glue gun and run a bead of glue between each circuit board. I found with mine the solder that holds the boards together started to crack causing strips of LEDs to not work correctly. Hopefully the glue will help to absorb the stresses, and prevent the dry joints forming.
The results are in. I did use some glue(silicone) as Alanrim suggested for the circuit boards. The first pictures are the stock bulb with no brake and then brake. The quiescent state of the LED lamp seems brighter and the brake light seems about the same or slightly brighter. There is a less drastic difference between no brake and brake with the LED lamp. Not sure if I like it yet.
