Any American riders members of the AMA? The road side assistance package was worth the membership price (yep, I'm one of the morons who have run out of fuel in BFE) so I bit. Anyway, in the magazine this month, there is an interview with Rush's Neal Pert who turns out to be a very accomplished rider. The interview really made me think about planning ahead, lane position, gear, mental preparation, etc. If you can find it, it's worth a read.

Peart wrote a book about his first big bike journey: Ghost Rider...
in less than a year he lost his entire family, daughter in a car crash,
wife to cancer, there he was at the top of his profession with more money
than you could dream of, but he had nothing...jumped on his BMW and rode,
and rode, and rode...all over NA and into Central America, for months, it is a
great read, derived from his daily notes in the trip diary, you can actually
feel him coming back to life and figuring out how to and carry on while reading
about his journey, the road is great therapy, I highly recommend it

I'm a member. I find it really distasteful that it takes money to get Congress to vote a certain way, but that's the way it is; the AMA has had a few successes in protecting motorcyclists' rights; good on 'em.

Ghost Rider is on my coffee table in the "to-read" stack, only about 3" from the top now, should have it read by Christmas!

Great article, thanks for the recommendation. I'm a HUGE Rush fan and there aren't many things better than watching Neil Peart hammer out a solo (except riding of course).
