FZ6 too revy?

Why do the british bike magazines say that the Yam FZ6 is too revy and that it lacks low-mid range punch? I don't have one yet, so I can't comment on the engine, but for the FZ6 owners...please give me your view of this.

The age old trait of mankind, try to make yourself look better by putting others down. Must be jealousy/envy. The FZ6's power band is actually one of the features that made me choose this bike. Quick,responsive and yet very manageable at the lower end of rpm range. Get the rpm's up and it will absolutely thrill you! As I have heard others describe it: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde all in one nice afordable bike.

It is all personal preference, I have ridden a Hayabusa and i dont think anyone needs that much torque on a bike! I have always liked the higher reving engines compared to more torquie (if thats a word) ones. They will scare you less off the line and give you a bigger smile once revs get up there!

I have no idea, they really pi$$ me off about it. My mates R6 has even less? I think its because they all beleive that secretly they are Barry Sheene, or Randy Mamola. I don't know. They absolutley raved about the thundercat powered model and slated the R6 powered model. WANKERS

It is an interesting question. The bike press are biased towards the sporty bikes, something with an R in the model number. So you would think they would like a revvy engine. Maybe they are over compensating for what is a more 'jak of all trades' bike. In Europe the FZ6 sells big, so it must doing something right.

As with most things you need to see if you like it yourself, it is your opinion that counts.

I had a thundercat engined model and the FZ6 is miles better. That also had much lower power at the bottom end. There's not much difference. The FZ6 just feels more linear and stronger everywhere

They need to ride two strokes to see what buzzy is. My old race RZ spun up to 12,000 from a stock of 9,500 and after a 30 to 45 minutes race I vibrated for the next day. I think the FZ is super smooth. I was really puzzled with all of the buzzy comments.

Sure if they could afford such a bike they wouldn't be complaining about it...just because this bike isn't made for common critics doesn't give them the right to bullshe-ite about the revvy nature of the engine!! Mine doesn't rev by itself unless I rev it!! I thought wanking strengthened the muscles in your wrist...I guess these need to wank more! Wankers!! :thumbup:

Bump for more input for FZ6 owners, does the engine feel like it has a good broad powerband?

From my experience, the FZ6 has an excellent power band. If you absolutely have to hit it at 3500 rpm, it won't dog out on you, and it really starts pulling after 7K. What more could you ask for? That's why everyone whose ridden one regularly gives it a high "fun factor" rating.
