It is so pretty up here. I think today I'm going up 120 from a little town called Lock Haven over to Allegheny National Forest. It's a little cool at 57 this morning with a high of 81. Weather.com says there shouldn't be any rain.

Looks like a cool ride? Oh yes.

Enjoy our state! We have lots of great motorcycle roads. Unfortunately, most of the ones that I ride have horrible visibility, so there's always that "hay wagon around the next blind corner" effect that you have to try to compensate for,

I grew up in South-West PA (yes, we pronounce our state name as pee-aye) went to college in North-West PA, and now live in South-East/Central PA. It a beautiful state (with the exception of Philadelphia....) and there's lots of see and do.

Oh, the best part about PA is that only the State Police can use radar and they have to be stationary to do so. Local police use a lot of VASCAR (timing between the white lines on the road) and laser is not approved in PA. :rockon: Oh, don't mess with the PA State Police. They are no-nonsense serious guys. I've been pulled over in many states and the state troopers in PA have the biggest intimidation factor to me. Maybe it's just the smokey the bear hat with the chin strap on the edge of their chin or something.

350 mile round trip. I was on the bike for 7.5 hours. It was the most fun I've had sinse D'Rose and Leakey.

Really? The cops around here are pretty nice if you ask me. I've gotten out of a number of tickets. We do have some amazing roads. I'm in the Lehigh Valley so we've got twisties out the ass up here, leading right into straight shots where you can see for miles. All you have to watch for is the white lines because only the Staties use radar - and they rarely come out to the boonies. All the other police use stop watches and white lines.

Just my experiences at least. Anybody up around the valley let me know! Its a beautiful place to get lost on a 4 hour ride!

Woot for PA, that's my home state... though I havent had the opportunity of taken my fz on the road up there yet

Oh and btw watch out for dear up there, they can regularly get up to over 200lbs, and have a habbit of jumpin into the road even in broad daylight. Other than that glad you enjoyed yourself. I liked the pics, reminded me of home

I'm here for 8 more days. The weather channel is calling for rain everyday until I leave. Hopefully I'll get a break, I want to take a ride east over to Mt. Pocono area. It's only about a 115 miles which isn't much in Texas terms. It's funny how my inlaws think a drive from Williamsport to Lock Haven (about 26 miles) is a serious road trip. In Houston 26 miles will hardly get you half way across town.

I'm here for 8 more days. The weather channel is calling for rain everyday until I leave. Hopefully I'll get a break, I want to take a ride east over to Mt. Pocono area. It's only about a 115 miles which isn't much in Texas terms. It's funny how my inlaws think a drive from Williamsport to Lock Haven (about 26 miles) is a serious road trip. Take the market street bridge (the main one, flat top) across the river to South Williamsport. Go straight up the road heading towards the mountain. The two lanes will eventually curve left heading for route 15 south, but you will go straight. This my friend, is our mini version of the tail of the dragon, up the mountain and down the other side. Hairpins, tight curves, elevation changes, straightaways, no traffic, no cops, amazing views. You can stop at the top where there are a number of scenic overlooks, and on the other side is a network of well maintained country roads that are perfect motorcycle roads. You can go anywhere on these roads and end up either on 15 or 44 and head back to town from there. It's the best road I've ever ridden.

Dude that's awesome and it's short enough to get into between rain showers. For everyone else here is what Cuba is talking about. I threw in skyline drive cause it looks cool.

That's it, Sulphur Springs! It doesn't smell like sulphur though. Looks straighter on the map but trust me it's nice! That's the route I would recommend, but then just turn around and do it backwards instead of taking 15 in.

I'm taking 87 east to hwy 6 through tunkhannock, then 309 to ride past forkston mountains, 115 at wilkse barre, 940 at blakeslee, 940 into mt pocono. I might try and head down 611 to tannersville, then up to camelback mountain.

From there I have no idea. I may just eat lunch and head back.

It's 6:53 and I'm leaving now.

If you get an opportunity to go south hit Route 125 south through a tiny town called Tower City and then Goldmine Road. Great riding! Thats my back yard and I ride that road every chance I get!
