How different is the blue paint 08/09

One is cobalt, and the one i have is deep blue. kinda hard to find pictures of them next to each other. anyone have a pic maybe of a comparison? Im debating buying the lower cowl in cobalt since thats all that is available(dont want black of course) but mine is the 09 deep blue. Thanks for any help.

I don't know the paint codes but I thought they were both Cobalt... Hmmm.... anyone want to post up paint codes for their '08 and another for the '09 to compare?

I dont think they are;In the UK they are called cobalt and ocean depth,I bought a sub cowl and hugger for mine in ocean depth and they are spot on.

Just to bump this thread maybe some of you nice gents with an 08 cobalt would be willing to show off your bike in this thread so i can have a good look at the paint? It would be much appreciated.

My 04 is probley a different paint code from the 08 so I won't add mine here but I was able to get a quart of paint for my lower fairing that matched my gas tank using Yamaha's information.

To me, the 08's look green when compared to the 09's. Look at Yamaha's website and you can compare the galleries.

That could be just a result from staging, lighting and camera differences...

thanks for the pics. your blue def. doesn't look as dark as the 09 and this is the best i could come up with to compare from their site:

To the above post, those two pictures have different lighting/exposure.
Notice the headers and the overall "shininess" of the bike.
It could be photoshopped.

Could be because a fellow member here just sent me some pics and it almost looks exact to mine unlike that picture i posted for the 08 straight from Yamaha's site.

The colors are the same.

Glasurit codes for both bikes are 0865 and while their stock numbers are different there is no difference in the mixture. Some paint companies call the '08 a tri-stage but they still turn out the same.
If you plan on using a quality paint like glasurit, pm me, I have the stock number written down at work I can get for you. (It took me 13 different "Dark Purplish Blue Metallic"s before I found one that matched my '08)
