Saw your FZ6 lying on its side today..

..and I felt bad.

I was coming out of Urinetown, in Cal State LA, and saw a blue FZ6 lying on its side in the motorcycle parking area. I went there and waited for you a little bit expecting I could help you to pick it up if you showed up. I looked around to see if anyone was carrying a helmet too, but then I had to go.


I dont know if you are a forum member but, im sure it sucked to walk up to that sight anyway, sorry couldnt help you. Hope the damage is not too bad..








..the messed up thing about this is that, there was no way that bike fell on its own. Im pretty positive some hater pushed it over. If they did, I hope they get hurt.

Because if the owner happened to see you picking it up they'd assume you knocked it over or were trying to steal it.

Plus I'd rather see my bike on the ground damaged rather than sitting perfectly fine then noticing the damage.

i am not saying that you cannot pick the bike up, but I would rather pick up my own bike. the chances of damaging the bike are just as likely while picking it up as it is when it was falling over. All i need is a good Samaritan to pick it up and not have a good grip and let it slide on the pavement a bit...

After picking the bike up, you could leave a brief handwritten note explaining what happened with perhaps your number to talk further. You could also snap a pic using your camera cell phone with the bike on the ground if you have that type of phone.

If the owner is away all day, the bike could start leaking gasoline and pose a hazard.

Leave my bike lying, if it is on the ground. You can damage it more when picking it up.

"Oh look, that bike's down on its left side. I'll pick it up for the rider."

Better to let it lie if you cannot find the rider.

The exception is BMW engines, which can get a hydraulic lock if they stay on their side for too long.

Also, I can just picture somebody seeing my bike on its side, picking it up, injuring their back in the process, and then taking me to court.

yeah, can you imagine what they would think when they got back, seeing thier bike upright, with a $hit ton of damage? .... WTF?! i would be more pi$$ed about that... Its like someone braking your window in your car, then sweeping it up and putting it in a bag for you... haha. I would immediatly think that whoever did it would have knocked it over, then tried to stand it back up so you wouldnt notice...

If you are confident you can get the bike up w/o dropping it again, please pick mine up! As long as it isn't a heavy cruiser I wouldn't think twice to help someone out. :scared:

I didn't think of that. I know that not everyone knows how to pick a dropped bike back up. I dropped my 900 lb. Harley on its side, in my drive the first week I got it and picked it up by myself. I've seen a 115 lb. woman pick a full dress like mine back up. It's technique, not brawn.

with all seriousness though, people pretty much summed up why I left it there. I wasnt gonna; touch whats not mine, and possibly hurt my back trying on my own, and possibly be seen and accused with dropping or stealing it.

Strange facetious comment....anyway if the bike had indeed been leaking gas, I would have lifted the bike and/or called for assistance. The bike is not very heavy, so picking it up is easy.
