While the dumbass caused it and deserved it, the SUV was way too close and did run so they both should be barred from driving/riding ever again.

What a dumb-azz. He's the one who pulled a stoppie with the truck right behind him. That entire group is lucky a bigger, faster truck didn't take them all out on that corner.

Sorry, I laughed when I watched the SUV slowly drive away. No simpathy here.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have driven off in that situation. Of course, in a situation like that (surrounded by a band of witless punks) I tend to go very slow and keep my distance. There would have been no hit to run from.



Public roads. Stunting. Large group that appears to be parked in the middle of a turn. No gear...

You're point is well taken regarding, "following". I doubt a judge would proceed with a hit and run charge if you feared for your safety provided you notified the authorities immediately (via cell phone). You never know how many guns were at that scene.

dumbass's i agree. why would you do stunting like that on a public road- blind corner? makes no sense maybe he will learn his lesson and keep it to a parking lot with nobody around. hopefully he was ok. but kinda serves the guy right.

The SUV might not have been running, maybe he was smarter than the stunters and didn't want to park right around a blind corner so a bigger faster vehicle can crash into them and really hurt someone that doesn't deserve it.

No sympathy here for the biker. Don't stunt on public streets especially around a blind corner. Might as well ride down the freeway blindfolded.

I wonder how this would play out in court, stunting on public roads being illegal and hit and run also being illegal. (if that was the case) Anybody have any ideas?

Notice how the video ends abruptly as the car starts to drive away. It's possible they did stop or turned around.

Also if they did run, the guy who got hit probably wouldn't want the police to see that video. Sure you might press charges against the driver that ran, but the police are going to charge you with a ****load of things for stunting on a public road and causing the accident.

Think of it this way, someone with no license/insurance hits someone with no license/insurance, as long as they're okay, they're both running!

my thought exactly, I am in no way sypathising with the stunter! Just saying, in this instance there is a place for a lawyer to make a lot of money! I really don't know what way a judge would go on this one.....

There were many wrongs done by both parties!

Car:
* Following too closely!
* Not even trying to miss the bike, thus not paying attention
* Driving away

Bike:
* Stunting on public roads!
* Stunting on a curve!
* Stopie in front of car on curve in public road!

I realize everything the biker does out weighs what the car did, however what if it had just been a normal rider and the bike quit! Same thing would have happened....... Minus the 40 idiots on the side of the road.....

Wow, that's one of the dumbest things I've seen. A group of bikes camping out mid corner like it's their personal stunting grounds. Same thing thing as running out in front of traffic, how could they have not gotten hit. I only hope that guy got a new bumper out of it if it had any dings or scratches.

Good point. It wasn't the driver's fault so no reason to run, but plenty to get out of the way while waiting for the cops. Hit and run is a felony, no?

By the law, you'll be right, because it's a rear-end collision.

Yet I place the blame squarely on the squid. And here's why.

He should have known that there was a SUV behind him. That's what mirrors are for.

Ignoring, or unaware of the SUV, he went into a blind corner and went out of view of the SUV.

He then executed a stoppie, which means that his speed rapidly dropped.

And you don't know what the SUV driver was thinking. My guess is that the driver saw all the bikes parked on the outside shoulder of the curve and was watching them to make sure that none of them were about to pull out in front of him.

He wasn't watching for the bike in front of him, because he didn't anticipate somebody pulling a stupid move like that in the middle of a blind curve. And coming around the corner and seeing the bike with its ass in the air probably shocked him enough to increase his reaction time.

I blame the squid for this one.
