Installing soft saddlebags??

I just bought a set of Cortech Sport Saddlebags. I did a search and found an install thread, but it shows putting the straps over the top of the passenger seat.

I was wondering if it is possible to mount these with the straps under the seat? I'm looking for the cleanest install and to leave the passenger seat open for a passenger. has anyone done this? Is there any reason it won't work?

I do not have the cortech bags but I run my saddle bag straps under the seat. Just be careful of them rubbing the plastics and stay clear of the seat lock.

I also have the cortech bags. I have tried to strap them under the seat however, I had no success. I could not get the seat to latch in place, the strap runs right over the seat lock.

I put the smaller strap under the seat, and the larger strap OVER the seat.
Fits and it's perfectly stable.

I have the coretech bags too. They definitely need to be over the seat. Also, watch out for the sponge linings on the bags. Make sure that they are pulled up over any of the plastic sides of your bike. I found that my bags rubbed some of the clear-coat off my bike. The perimeter of the bags are very hard and will rub the finish right off if you give them the chance.

Tried under the seat, it works fine but little bit go closer to the front after succesful attachment.
And bags got little loosed feeling, may be just my perception, when riding fast speed.
This week, I tried over the seat,
however I don't have any chance to have fast speed riding with it.
It feels just right when the bags are fastened over the seat.
And no issues with loosed feeling yet.
I have plan that saddle bags stay all the time on the bike
as I do commute with it and I do need go some groceries time to time.
And saddle bags are very usefule ....:thumbup:

I decided to mount them over the seat to start; Brought the new bike home Saturday and mounted up the bags. So far they seem secure and I love the bike!!!

Nice pictures. I see you also have the top bag and an aftermarket windscreen. What kind is it? Do you find it makes a great difference?

I have those cortech bags. I put the larger strap under the seat, and the smaller strap over the back of the bike in front of the givi topcase rails.

Eventually, I decided to fold the small straps under the bags and use nylon web straps to clip the bags to the rails, instead:

It's hard to picture, but you own those bags, so you'll know the clips I'm referring to on the bags that aren't being used.

I also have this problem trying to find a way to get more padding there the padding sticks to paint and bags slide forward on pads has anyone found a fix ?

If you find a way to stop it let me know too. I basically just tug the heck out of the foam to make sure that it's covering the corners, but the heck if it stays there. I'm thinking some foam and some double sided tape...

It's Yamaha Wind Screen, it is called Taller Windscreen for my 2006 model.
I ordered it through the local Yamaha dealer, price is on the yamaha web site.
I think about $115 ??, I paid less than 130 including the tax.
Yes, it gave me much much better comfortness when riding.
For the higher speed, over 80 at the highway, it is do really good job for me.
I'm 5' 11'' tall, and this new taller sceen is just right size for me and bike.

I skimmed across this topic, so please correct me if this has been addressed.

I run the Nelson-Rigg Saddlebags myself and I run the straps under the seat and have the straps running between the grab rails as well. This pulls the bags up high enough so that the passenger pegs are easily accessed. In order to not damage the key when trying to undo the latch I had to remove some material from the tab on the seat pan that the seat latch grabs. This was done by simply using a dremel tool.

Buy some non-stick material that you get to put underneath rugs. Oxford make one called the blanket. General stores sell it, bike shops sell it, Ikea sells huge amounts of it cheaply (in white).

I got these very same bags...but they kind-of touch the exhaust pipe area. Do you have the same issue, and is it an issue at all? If I pull them slightly forward, so that they do not touch, then they interfere with the passenger pegs in the event that I am carrying a passenger.

Hello there. As i can see from your photos you do not use a rack to mount your saddlebags. I will soon be the proud owner of Nelson Rigg SE-2060 Dry Saddlebags (Nelson Rigg SE-2060 Dry Saddlebags - RevZilla) and i would like to ask if you had any issues by attaching saddlebags without rack...
