TomTom Rider v2 mounting shoe rain cover?

I'm happy to click the GPS/Satnav unit off the bike when I'm not riding it, but can't be **rsed each time to undo the RAM mount, docking shoe and charging cable with it.

To protect the docking shoe from rain etc when the GPS/Satnav unit's not on it - it's only plastic - has anyone come across a neat little rain cover to slip over the shoe? I'm thinking thin little PVC upside down bag shape, maybe just a few inches square, fastened at the bottom, open end with elastic or velcro?

This works, I have done it.

My last GPS unit was a cheap Packard Bell car GPS and stayed on in rain or sun. It still works but I upgraded to TomTom.

Got a photo of the mount? If you're just looking for keeping dripping rain off it, I think a flip down rubber cap would work pretty well - but it wouldn't really be water *proof* per se. If I understand right, you just don't want water on the contacts, right?

I have the TT2 with the RAM mounted docking shoe too,- and I have left it on my bike since day 1, - that's about 2 years now, - with no problems what so ever.
I ride without the GPS unit most of the time, - and it been in plenty of snow, rain, sun, fog and so on, - and shows no signs of any damage from it what so ever.
I think it's made to survive on the bike, - with or without the TT2 mounted on it.

A related question about security - obviously, when parked up and left, it's best to take the actual GPS unit with you, but do you ever worry someone could work out how to undo the RAM mount and nick that & the shoe, too? I'm relying on the fact that the mount/shoe setup doesn't look too attractive itself to warrant that sort of attention and you'd have to be a bit knowledgeable about a RAM mount anyway to know how to undo it.

Newer really looked at the shoe and ram mount as worth stealing I must admit ....
I've got the SR-i900 Scorpio installed as well,- and the perimeter sensor would be triggered if you started to undo the RAM, - so at least I would know if it happened.
But if you look at it the way you suggest, - maybe a bit of the red lock tite would be prudent to apply to the RAM mount bolts.
That would at least make it very hard to remove without tools.

Here's where I like my TomTom mounted:

i.e. quite high up from the bars - in my line of sight to the bike's own displays - and so a bit more likely to catch the rain etc.

However, I'm reassured by other posters here that this mount, like the Rider GPS unit itself is designed for this sort of life outdoors, so I'll leave it as it is, but if I do come across a neat little cover, I'll let you know...

How about a piece of black electrical tape over the contacts? I'm assuming the contacts are the only parts that are susceptible to rain. You could pretty easily peel off the tape and stick it on the flat area right below while you're using it, and then re-stick it over the contacts when you're done. I bet you could use the same piece of tape a hundred times before it blows away. And a roll of electrical tape is a good thing to keep with you anyway.

Another option would be to find a golf club cover. Most of those seem to be fuzzy, though, so I don't think it would do well in the rain, might be worse than leaving it uncovered if it soaks up the rain and prevents it from drying.
