I regularly ride pillion on my girlfriends Fazer, and one thing that always used to hack me off is how slippery the seat is. It may be different in the US because most of the seats I see on your bikes are dimpled, but on my girlfriends 08 S2 UK spec bike it's as slippery as greased butter so whenever she hits the brakes I end up sliding up to her butt. Which ordinarily would be a damn fine thing. But not on a bike during an emergency stop.
Now, getting a saddle recovered is expensive, and as well as being rather slippery my bottom is also renowned for its almost legendary tightness. The words "He was a generous man to the end" will categorically NOT be engraved on my tombstone, in fact I want to be buried upside down so that I can charge visitors to park their bicycles when they visit my final resting place.
Ahem.
Moving on. :spank:
I had a quick look in the el cheapo shops, and found a non-slip dash mat similar to this...

... you've probably seen hundreds of them going for a couple of (insert local currency here). So I thought... "Hmmm if it can keep my iPhone on the dash round corners, can it keep my butt on the saddle during braking?"
So, I bought it, and next time we went out for a ride I placed it on the saddle before sitting down.
What a total transformation - not just under braking, but acceleration and cornering, my body is much more relaxed because I'm not tensing up all the time to keep myself in place. I can confidently lean with the bike now instead of worrying that I'll slip to one side and it's increased my comfort to such an extent that I can ride for longer as my body is much more relaxed.
So go talk to your passenger, find out if they have the same problem and then head down to your local store and get a non-slip dash mat, it'll be the best (insert local currency again) you ever spent! :cheer:
