... between two cars. Luckily not on my bike, but with my car. On the highway in rush-hour this morning, traffic suddenly came to a complete stop. I don't think the bloke in front of me realized that until the very last second, so he slammed the brakes. I did so too, and managed to stop a few cm before I hit his bumper. The dude behind me was another matter`, though. He ran into my rear with such force that I hit the car in front, which in turn hit a fourth car in front of him.

My car now has the trailer hook up it's rear bumper, a nice dent in the rear hatch, and a front bumper that sticks out on either side. Luckily this wasn't my fault, and luckily the guy in front of me, which is a cop, can vouch for that.

My car from behind (you can see the hook is squashed into the bumper):

Front (not that much damage, but the fogs also cracked in the collision):

The guy that hit me (he got some serious damage to his Ford, and it's easy to see where he hit my hook):

I thought I'd share these pictures with you lot so you could feel some sympathy for us having this freakin' bad weather!

Ouch. That's why it's good to stop atleast a few feet from cars

4 cars involved? I wonder how the insurance companies are gonna handle that.

It's the last guy's insurance company that will have to pay. He's the reason for the whole thing. Too bad for the company though, that they are the insurer for both my car and the car that hit me:D

All in all, not too much damage and you're alright. But are you? Sometimes incidents like this take a couple of days for muscles to tighten up.

hey, at least it was low speed. glad you're ok and it looks like your car is just fine (except a few minor cosmetic things). it was lucky you had that cop in front of you to vouch.

I had the exact same thing happen to me a couple years ago, except the guy behind me never hit his brakes and slammed into me doing 50. You're getting nice new bumpers and lights! Bet that got your heart going though huh?

I had a sore neck the first few hours after this, but it seems okay now. If things aren't back to normal tomorrow morning, I'll call my doctor. I'm just glad I didn't have my 13 month old daughter (which I only a few minutes earlier had dropped off at the kindergarden) in the back when this happened! Her seat is facing backwards, and even though that's considered the safest position for small children, this type of collision could have given her a serious whip-lash.

The car that hit me was doing around 40 km/h. Could have been worse:thumbup:

I bet your neck was hurting after that?

It got me going, yes. But I've been out a winter night before, you see. Fell asleep while driving at 100 km/h and totalled that car seriously. Flipped over three times and suddenly got myself a convertible. THAT got my heart going big time;)

That sucks :( Dealing with insurance companies is so annoying. You probably won't have any hassles though, since the guy who rear-ended you () is clearly to blame. Good luck:)

PS: I'm glad you're ok!

Hehe... It's from the north towards Oslo, on E6 next to Skedsmokorset.

I'm okay though:thumbup:

Here in aus just for being on the road we get a % of the blame, they also say that you should always have enough room between you and the car in front in case of such sercumstance, so if you dont get any cost good on you ( i know it wasnt your fault but our rules (stupid rules) would say you are part to blame)
